What a privilege to have known Hilda for 64 years and we are very sad to lose her.
From the time we went to Venda in 1983 she was there already. Her life was dedicated to the Lord
and to His work and she brought Glory to His name. Today there are many people who know the Lord
because of her life and testimony and because she introduced them to the Saviour. We visited
England in 2002 and saw her. She visited Youth for Christ in South Africa where we worked
to attend a Donald Fraser Hospital reunion. In her later years she had eye problems which did not
hinder her in her walk and service to the Lord. We praise the Lord for her life.

when I was head hunted and directed to meet Hilda more than 40 years ago, little did i know the path that was waiting for me at Donald Fraser hospital. What a journey that was! I also remember her in a tennis outfit every Saturday, off to Sibasa, where she developed friendships and Christian influence over the years she was there, as well as being Matron of said hospital. Her impact on my life, together with those who worked there marked me for life. I salute her Christian 'soldiership' and look forward to meeting her one day.

I will forever remember Hilda for her love, her encouragement and her patience.
Hilda has made a huge imprint on my life and my Christian journey. I feel so blessed to have been a part of her life and to have been taught by her, counselled and guided over the years by her wisdom.
She was so faithful in her service to the Lord and she will remain an inspiration to many who were privileged to know her.
Now receiving her eternal reward and in the presence of our Saviour!
Praying for all Hilda’s family and friends.

Hilda served as a missionary nurse at the Donald Fraser Hospital in Northern South Africa from 1958 to 1974. She was matron of this mission hospital for much of that time. We were privileged to work with her and enjoy her friendship there, in the 1970s.
She was able to provide a firm and effective leadership coupled with a great sense of humour. Her activities extended to Sunday school visits in the very rural areas which included her driving over most slippery roads and even wading through rivers to give the good news to groups of children.
It has been wonderful to have continued as her friends until the present. We honour Hilda as a wonderful and consistent servant of her Lord despite physical handicaps. "Well done good and faithful servant."

Hilda Rolfe,a Christian who served others all her life here at home and as a missionary, a great role model,
During my nurse training in 1980s, she was a dedicated, passionate midwifery tutor.. and hosted meetings in her home for nurses seeking christian fellowship.
Remembering her stories, her professionalism and her fun but most of all her unwavering faith and Gods continued faithfulness in every area of life..

What is our hope in life and death?Christ alone, Christ alone
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand
O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death
