Uncle John was the best person to be around anytime and any day. Always trying to get me to take a tot with him lol. Aunty Dell would not allow him to take that tot but after a while she would give in. 😂 I just love the 2 of them. Thoughts and prayer

Great-Uncle John was always a ray of sunshine and his infectious laughter would warm you right up! He loved playing games with my sister and I, I particularly remember the dot/box game; he would scramble for a scrap piece of paper and play until there was no where left to draw. Again, his infectious laughter when he would win or looking for another piece of paper if my sister or I bested him.

I will forever cherish my time with Great-Uncle John in Jamaica in 2003. We spent the whole summer with him and Great-Aunty Del and it was a lovely experience. Driving around the island in the Red Suzuki, a crab in a bucket making nightmare noises that Uncle John was too scared to take out to experiencing a terrible storm and sweeping out the water out the basement with him. He was a kind man, i remember him buying mango and bag juice from a boy who lived local to us even though they had their own fruits growing in their garden. We laughed constantly for 6 weeks straight.

Uncle John will be truly missed. RIPP 🙏🏾

This isn't a very clear picture - it's screen-shot from a video of aunty D seranading Uncle John. I think the video was taken by Sahara .... unfortunately it cannot be uploaded.

Things that I will always remember about uncle John that I will always remember includes:

1. Whenever I asked 'How are you feeling uncle John?'
He would answer 'Not bad, not bad. Can't grumble.' Or words to that effect. I cannot ever remember hearing him negatively complain about anything.

2. Gosh, that all emcompassing big warm smile or laugh of his. He wore it like a 'badge of honour'.

3. The fact he contributed to the building / maintenance of something around Bow area. Was it a bridge? I cannot fully remember now. I wish I'd written it down when he'd told me, to record some of 'dad's' achievements here in UK as part of the legacy he would leave behind.

4. The weeks we spent in Jamaica in about 2003. Uncle John was in his elements and enjoyed taking us out and about and pottering around on their land. He loved that there was always something outdoors in good weather to do in Jamaica ..... However, the story of the crab in the pail (bucket) still cracks me up to this day. It is something really hilarious, and evocative of uncle John, that my children and I share in common with both Uncle John and Aunt Dell.

5. Uncle John, jovially reminding me about that suit, purchased especially to be a stand-in 'dad' to me. I think he treasured that role and I cherish it.

6. Sister, auntie, cousins etc... Veron Rosemarie Cousins, who passed in May 2023, loved her uncle John. I recall in March 2020, she followed up on one of my visits asking whether uncle John recognised me. Following a phone call from Aunt Dell in February that year, she was wondering whether to visit or to remember him as he was.

I am grateful for the impact and many lasting memories of Uncle John.

Uncle John was blessed with 92 fruitful years. His soul is now resting in perfect peace and so it should be.
Thanks be to God.
Amen.

I think that aunt D's pepper sauce had got me here. Uncle John's polite smile rather than a raucous laugh at me.

I am truly happy and blessed i got the chance to be apart of Mr John's life. Mr John had been a Role model for me and i pray i will be able to be like him. He was a great man and will be remembered in my heart for the rest of my life. Mr John and Miss John have been there in my life from I was a baby growing up into a man, Mr John is not my biological dad but he have played a vital father role in my life and also in many other's. He was such a precious soul. He is one of the reasons why I am where I am today. Mr John you will always be remembered in my heart. Love Ryan...

Deepest condolences . We have had such wonderful times together but the one I remember the most is the race we had a few years ago in Jamaica. Thought I could outrun you easily, but boy was I wrong! You will be greatly missed but your legacy lives on. RIP Uncle John.
