In loving memory of Rashford Samuel Brooks who sadly passed away on 21st September 2023 aged 77.

My father was born 7th November 1945 in Kingston Jamaica and came to England in 1951 aged just 5.
My Father was the son of Michael and Mavis Brooks and eldest of seven siblings.

My father leaves behind a wife June, son Richard , daughter in law Sara and two grandaughters Ellie and Bethany.

A fan of many sports and captained many football teams. Needless to say he was a fan of Captain Morgan too.

Do not feel obliged but if you would like to make a donation to the hospital who helped dad considerably in his time he spent here then please follow the attached link? Otherwise any flowers sent would need to go to the crematorium at Hither Green or mums address with arrival no later than 10:30am on the day of the funeral 💙

I remember Richard... He loved to have a chat at any time... I do not know how his family must be feeling his loss but unfortunately I know too, as many of you, how painful are these circumstances... I remember to have shared with Richard this hope which stills helps me to see the future with hope and strength... I wish it may help his family too:

'The Bible foretells a time in the near future when no one will be sick. Under the rule of his Kingdom, God will cure all health problems. (Isaiah 33:24; 35:5, 6) He will do away with suffering, pain, and death. (Revelation 21:4) And he will bring back to life those who have died so that they can enjoy good health here on earth under perfect conditions.—Psalm 37:29; Acts 24:15.'

My best and sincere wishes for his family and friends...

Jonatan 💐

Richard I have many lovely memories of you and will never forget your big smile and cheeky laugh. You are my fellow Scorpio and I loved seeing you in the mornings picking the girls up from school and dropping them home again. Your legacy will continue through your beautiful granddaughters Ellie and Bethany and they will make you so proud. You are now the brightest star in the sky and we will remember you forever . Lots of Love Ann-Marie, Darron, Reiss and Lexie xx xx

Prior to my leaving the museum in late 2020, Richard and I would always catch up either at the key pound or the contractors desk. Every morning, he would spend few minutes with me at either location before he goes off to his duty post. Since my leaving the museum, we kept in touch on a weekly basis. He kept me up to date with his health challenges. He cherished our phone chats as much as I did. I was devastated to learn of his passing. I will definitely miss our regular phone chats. Rest peacefully Richard.

We'll miss Richard's cheeky demeanor as the gatekeeper to exhibition spaces while we put up countless shows at the British Museum. Always quick to shame those who messed up his security pass system, at the same time he happily brought in homegrown produce to share.

Rashford and I were quite close as brothers. We spoke every week on the phone, and our topic always included football and cars, (Spurs) his team and of course my team ( Man United) and when he came up to Brum we always would meet up. I will miss our Sunday morning chats so Rest in Peace Big Brother, until we meet again. 🙏 Johnny 💙
