I am so sorry to hear of Mr Mayfield's passing. He was my maths teacher in the 1970's. He was a natural teacher with a gift for communicating to make the subject understandable. I was so glad to be in his class, as I know I never would have passed the exam without his help. Later, in the 1990s he taught my daughter too. I am sure a great many people have cause to be grateful to him for the skills in maths which he passed on. I considered him to be a truly excellent teacher and a thoroughly nice person as well.
