John was a gentleman a calming influence in a crisis, generous and humorous. Moreover, he was a good friend who helped to guide me through the workings of the scenic and props departments of BBC Pebble Mill, in the mid seventies. He always wore a smile and always had time for people. My sincere condolences to Annette and all the family, at this very sad time. Rest in peace, John.
