In loving memory of Lee Carter who sadly passed away on 2nd July 2023
Lee was born on 31st July 1957, he was the first born of Fred and Maureen Carter. He was joined 4 years later by his sister Tracy. Lee grew up in Roundhouse Road. He went to Roberts Street infants and junior school. He passed his 11+ exam so went to High Arcal grammar school. He first job was on a Saturday at Big K , a very early version of B & Q. When he eft school he went to work at Ascon roofing but left there to go to work for Walls, delivering pies, sausages etc to different shops. Whilst doing this he met Jan who worked at Liptons. They married in 1979. Lee and Jan remained in Gornal. Lee went to work at ARBIL , selling lifting gear this he did for many years working at different companies usually because the company was bought out. Lee took early retirement at the age of 62 because his health had started to fail. Lee has enjoyed many things during his life he loved a pint at the chapel house, or at the legion. These were his locals. He loved his holidays and travelled plenty always with Jan by his side. He has been to the canaries, on safari in africa, Caribbean, vegas, Hawaii, New York.
He has had numerous past times the most energetic one was golf. He loved to play darts and crib and in his youth played snooker usually at the miners welfare club.
Lee was a very kind gentle soul who never hurt anyone, if he could do you a good turn he would. Always there to help you out.
With this in mind we have decided to have only close family flowers and request that anyone wishing to make donations do so to the royal British legion.
Lee’s funeral will take place at Lower Gornal Crematorium on 4th August 2023 at 10.20 am.
