In loving memory of Jeffrey Brian Herbert " Jeff " who sadly passed away on the 2nd June 2023 at his Home on Canvey Island.

Jeff was born on 8th June 1946 in Southampton and lived with his parents, Ted and Mini where they moved to Canvey and he grew up with his 2 younger brothers, Colin and Ray. He married Carol the love of his life on 30th March 1968, 2pm at St Nicholas Church, Canvey and they went on to have five children Darren, Jamie, Ricky, John & Janine and his grandchildren Joshua, Joseph, Harry, Hollie and Teddy who he thought the world of. Dad was known for his lifetime of hard work in civil engineering, he loved family time and having a few whisky’s to end the day.

For those who knew Jeff and wish to come and pay their respects the funeral will take place on Tuesday 27th June 2023 at 10:00am at Pitsea/Basildon Crematorium (the cortege will be leaving the house at 09:00am). Afterwards we will be raising a glass to Jeff at the Canvey Island Yacht Club.

Family have requested family flowers only but if you would like to make a donation in Jeff’s memory you can do so on this page or on the day at the crematorium. Donations will be to Fair Havens Hospice at Home.

The family would all like to thank everyone for their kind words and support.

Jeffro,
Trying to think of one memory is too hard as there's too many funny ones. Teenage memories at yours most weekends and throughout school holidays, enjoying bbqs and house parties with a bottle of £5 glens vodka, to nights out as adults at the pub or the corner club doing the conga and eating sandwiches will always make me smile. Most of all thank you for always making me feel welcome.
I hope you're resting up there now and enjoying a large whisky in the sunshine.
Love
Tia

Jeff, I'm sorry I never got a chance to thank you for giving us such a great childhood and also a best friend. Spending time with you and your family have been some of the best times of my life by far and those memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.

I want to thank you for being you, for being so kind, and for always going out of your way to help others.

I can say this on behalf of myself and the rest of John’s friends, that you were just such a lovely person that we all loved to be around.

It will be hard knowing you have passed, but you will always be in our memories and forever lived on throughout your loving family. Whenever I see your family, I will always remember what joy brought to all of our lives. It means the world.

I will miss our little chats, and we all will miss you so much.

Thank you Jeff.

Love Kenny & Family

On the 2nd of June my dad passed away having been diagnosed with osopheal cancer .

Myself and Dad were very close having been business partners as well as farther and son.we worked on the roads and have many fond memories. everywhere I drive I see work we have been involved in together and that will make me smile going forward.

He was the greatest man I knew and the diagnosis back in December was deverstating for the him and the whole family .He was 76 and fit last November and I hoped I had many years with him sharing work ventures and happy family moments.

Just wanted to say cherris every moment with the ones close to you because time is short and all the years spent trying to pay our way can distract you from what's really in front of you. .

I will never forget you popps .I love you and my heart is broken .See you again one day dad XXX

In a tough industry, Jeff was an absolute gentleman and one of the most knowledgeable Ground Engineers I have ever met. It was a privilege to know him and work with him and his family. He will be sorely missed. His family have lost a father, we’ve lost a trusted friend and colleague.
Goodbye Jeff, Rest in Peace.
From all of your friends at Henderson & Taylor
