Peter Riley (31 Dec 1968 - 18 Oct 2015)

Pete was one of the nicest guys I ever had the privilege of knowing. Gentle, kind, generous, and extremely good company, he always tackled everything he did with tremendous enthusiasm. We will miss him.

Dear Peter - a strong, kind and principled man. I am so sorry I can't be there tomorrow but Don will be there for both of us. To Jenny, Tilly and Peter's family I send my deepest sympathy and love to you all.

On behalf of all the Thursday Night Footballers, our heartfelt condolences go to Pete's family. A donation will be made to the family's chosen charity on behalf of all the lads.We all knew Pete as a fit and active man who generally rang rings round lads half his age every week. When we heard of Pete's illness, we all assumed that sooner or later, he would turn up in his Boro' top with a yarn to tell about his recovery. Stunned, numb, empty are all words I could use to describe my emotions when I heard of his passing. It doesn't seem right that someone so young and in such good health can be taken from us so cruelly. Peace be with you.

I have only the fondest memories of my time with Pete and the two of you, and know that he will be sadly missed by many.
I can't make it to the funeral, but will be with you in thoughts tomorrow afternoon in celebrating Pete's life, so tragically cut short.

I pray that Pete's soul rest in eternal peace. I feel blessed to have known such a special person.

Jenny - I was so very sorry to hear of Pete's untimely passing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Losing a member of one's family is tough at the best of times, but losing a partner and Dad at such an age must be particularly hard to bear. Unfortunately, I cannot be at the funeral on Friday, as I will on holiday. Remember your times with him and draw on the strength and goodness that was Pete and I am sure you and Tilly will pull through.
