In loving memory of Martin Banning who sadly passed away on 24th March 2023. Beloved husband to Heather who will hold him in her heart for ever. He is the most beautiful man with such a massive presence and a huge heart. We will all remember his strength of character, his stories and his laugh. Passed away far too soon and will be greatly missed.

Martin was a wonderful man who was stoic and uncomplaining, who fought valiantly against his cancer, using everything in his power, including his Yorkshire grit and wonderfully dry sense of humour. He truly valued the important things in life - love and his partner Heather, family and friends, the natural environment. There was always a laugh, and, I am sure a wonderful circle of mates in his favourite local and many coworkers who will miss him. I was lucky to spend time with him and Heather in Pubil last year in sunny Scotland (no tongue in cheek there), and see his favourite riverbank and the lovely glen where he imagined himself to be when the medical team arrived with yet more sharp implements and treatment. He spared me the analysis of recent sporting performance by the Aussie teams, but also the true sadness of facing the end of his life at 56 years old, when he lost the chance to grow old with Heather and build more memories of times together. A remarkable man and a terrible loss to us all.

Living in Australia, I did not know my cousin Martin in childhood. But he was a man who knew what the important things in life were- even if he treated them sometimes irreverently and with dry humour. The photo encapsulates what he held close to his heart

Where do we start, Martin you were the most genuine, kind, caring and fun person we have met. We have shared so many great times over the years with you and Heather and you have always been such a happy person despite the battles you have faced in the recent years, but you faught it to the end. You leave behind your amazing, loving and supportive wife and soul mate Heather, who iam sure will do you proud in a beautiful goodbye tomorrow. We still cannot believe you have gone, but we will treasure the fantastic memories and laughs that we have had. Sleep well Martin, its now time to rest. Lots of love always The Findlays xxxx

Dearest Heds, Our hearts go out to you at this very sad time. No words can change what has happened or heal the broken hearts. We just want you to know we are with you I thought every day. Also with Mart's family too, altho' we don't know them, they must be special people to have raised your amazing husband. We all hope to be with you on Wednesday and will continue to think of you in the coming days, as you try to come to terms with everything that has happened. So glad you have Jo and a very supportive family with whom to share these days. With our love, Sid, Mabs, Trev, Rob and Famies xxxx
