Derek passed away peacefully at Queen's Hospital on 11th January 2023, aged 83 years. A loving husband, dad and grandad. Derek will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Daddy, as I lay here thinking it’s only 2 days until we lay you to rest the tears are flowing and my heart is aching at thought it will all be so final. I’m not ready to say goodbye to you yet but I don’t think I ever will be…….
Thank you daddy for everything and for all the lovely moments and memories we shared, thank you for always putting me at ease and telling me not to worry darling, thank you for letting me have you for 43 years but most of all thank you for being you.
I will miss you everyday of my life and I will one day think of our lovely memories with a smile but just not yet as i’m hurting too much.
I really do hope you have gone somewhere special darling and that your have 50 cigarettes at day with Auntie Diane and drinking La bumba’s with Uncle Len, playing bingo with Nannie and having cuddles with Ben and Charlie.
Keep smiling daddy and one day I will too, you’re always on my mind.
