Clifford Bulbrooke (Passed away 25 Dec 2022)

In loving memory of Clifford Bulbrooke who sadly passed away on 25th December 2022.
Cliff was born on the 7th September 1928 in Bassett Green. He had one brother and two sisters. His first job was an apprentice car mechanic which was cut short when he signed up to do his national service in the RAF. He then joined Southampton City Transport as a bus mechanic, then became a conductor and finally a driver. He retired in 1993 after 44 years.
He married Margaret in 1954 and they lived in Bitterne Park throughout more than 68 years of marriage. They have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Cliff loved playing football and was a lifelong Saints fan. When his football days were over he played cricket for Southampton City Transport. He also played snooker, crib and whist and earned a cupboard full of trophies over the years. Cliff also loved music. He had his own disco equipment and played at many of the local clubs as the Silver Fox!
He was always outgoing and enjoyed coach trips with friends all over the country. Scotland was a particular favourite. He also got the chance to go to Canada to visit his older sister, Jean. This trip was a special highlight and remained a special memory for quite some time before his illness took hold.
Cliff spent his last few months in Brookvale House Care Home. After the isolation of Covid it gave him a lift and he was very happy there. Thanks to the staff and wonderful carers for going above and beyond every day.
