We know that Steve took God with him wherever he went. God used him to touch many different people's lives over the years. For many of us we have fond memories of Steve's interest in bird watching, admiring and enjoying God's creation. So, Andrea has asked in preference to Flowers and Cards, please consider donating to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and their work at Steve & Andrea's favourite reserve ‘Rainham Marshes’. Where they shared many fond memories together.

Andrea has lovingly selected photographs showing his life, interests and hobbies. They capture Steve living his life to the full. She would like you to read his story in his own words on the McIntosh family website of God's faithfulness throughout Steve & Andrea's life.

Am sorry to have missed Steve’s send off and I can only imagine it was full of wonderful stories of a man who was generous with his time, talent and treasures. I knew Steve through the ministry of Transform Work. He would accompany us as we sort to support other council Christian staff groups. This particular time I was secretly seeking The Lord for his provision as those working for Transform Work lived by faith and our income wasn’t looking good at all and I was asking the Lord for help. I hadn’t mentioned any of this to Steve or others. After the meeting on the walk back to the train station, Steve started to mumble to himself and eventually said that he had to do something and could we wait at the station for him. So we did. Just before I had to get on the train home, Steve discreetly stuffed some notes into my hand saying God told him to do this and that he hoped everything is ok. Once seated I opened my hand to see fifty pounds in cash! I couldn’t believe it, I just couldn’t stop thanking God for his provision through Steve and for Steve’s obedience to hear The Lord and follow his instructions. My faith grew so much as a result of Steve’s kindness and obedience that day. Thank you God for your servant and friend who’s having a blast with you in heaven. We ask that you continue to bless his whole family now and in the years to come in Jesus name. Xx

Ros

Andrea, am thinking of you and the family at this time, and praying you know Gods comfort.

I haven’t seen Steve for years but so appreciated both your love and friendliness and support at church for the city. Thanks so much!

Steve was so amazing at encouraging people and always seeking to bring prophetic words to build up the church. I so appreciated the prophetic group he ran - I was so blessed and encouraged by it, and it helped to set up a foundation in my life of expecting God to speak and stepping out.

Thank you so much Steve - you’re an amazing example and inspiration of a race run well, much love to you all x

I have fond memories of Steve as a fun, kind guy. The Macs are a lovely family. Sarah Jane took me under her wing in my adolescence. Richard and Fiona befriended me in Berlin in my early 20s.

Steve was very welcoming and friendly. Throughout my time at Church for the City he was always encouraging and looking out for people. I remember going to the group that he set up on hearing from God and how he was so passionate about encouraging us all to grow in our gifts and to know God more. I like the way that he was very real and never faked or pretended. If he was feeling down he would tell you. If he was feeling full of joy he would show it. Other people could also be themselves with him and there aren’t many people like that, even in churches. Thanks for your encouragement over the years, Steve. I’ll miss you.

Many people have written about Steve's warmth and faith. I remember butting heads with him over our views on what Jesus wanted for us. We could only do that because we were both passionate about our Jesus. But there's a difference between being a crazy passionate youngster and being faithful to the end with that same zeal. Many get mired in life's struggles. Steve clearly finished the way that he started and by that his life will continue to inspire others.

My condolences to Andrea and the family. Steve was a sensitive, thoughtful, kind and loving young lad when we first met in the 70s. He was always ready to share a laugh, read a verse or ask after someone. He was besotted with Andrea and utterly devoted. It was a privilege to have known him.

Steve was such a great guy. An exemplary christian. Very selfless. Always ready to help in any capacity to further the Kingdom of God on earth. I recall how he took time off work to accompany to visit different workplace groups, to hold meetings with members and support generally, sharing the word and in prayer as needed. Now he’s resting in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May the Good Lord continue to comfort, support and uphold Andrea and the entire family.

Our family met Steve and Andrea through Bermonsey Birdwatchers. It was great the way the outings were planned and researched and all we had to do was turn up and enjoy a great day out. Part of Steve's legacy to us is the lifelong friends we met in that group. Despite many dire weather forecasts we only got soaked once, which encouraged me to be a bit more positive and optimistic !! His bearhugs were dangerous though...
