One of my memories of Janice my sister, going to the dentist to Mr Cara on the High Street. Mr Cara and his dentist chair looked like something out of a Hammer Horror! On one occasion a gang of lads were outside shouting at us: ‘Dentist Ahhhhh! Killer’, whilst feigning strangulation and throat cutting. The elder Miss Boyle turned and looked straight at them, tilted her chin firmly upwards, and in her poshest voice replied, ‘Only for those who don’t go!’.
She then grabbed my hand and dragged me over the threshold saying ‘S’only a checkup Aly!’ I loved her so much.
