John and Sandra Ruddock wrote

Dear Joy (note: You we’re christened Joy Ruddock not Joyce and we don’t know how so many people mis-named you over so many years). We are so sorry that you have left us and, if there is an afterlife, we hope that you will live happily ever after among children, labradors and flowers, especially white ones. We hope your ashes will be put to rest in Boxgrove Priory Church with your Mum, Dad and two brothers in accordance with your wishes and that Otto comes with you. We are deeply sorry that you put your trust in Frank Ridge who pretended to love you (while having a wife and children of his own) but isolated you, preyed on you, coerced and bullied you and took many thousands of pounds from you including Ron’s estate. He stuck A4 photos of his family on your walls to brainwash you and ultimately his family took your beloved home, stripped it and put it on the market before you even passed away. Unfortunately, Ridge’s stitching up was tight and left no way to protect you. So many times we heard you say “It’s what Frank wants.” We would have loved you to have moved here by the sea where we would have cared for you ensured your happiness and where you could have enjoyed John’s five lovely grandchildren growing up and been a big part of their lives. John’s Dad, Alfred Ruddock, was best man when you and Jim married and he and Ellen remained very close to you both until they sadly left us. John, your next of kin and one of the very few people you could trust, has just come out of hospital and very regretfully cannot travel to your funeral. Not unexpectedly, the Ridge family, who are no relation to you, have refused him a video link. It is with huge regret that we can’t be with you to celebrate your life and see you on to your final journey. We will carry fond memories of you and Jim always and at least your final resting place will be close by. Rest in peace, Joy, and give our love to Jim, Ron and Les. Love always. Xxxx
