Trevor Norman Green (7 Nov 1934 - 6 Dec 2022)

In loving memory of Trevor Norman Green who sadly passed away on 6th December 2022.

Trevor was a very loving husband, father and grandpa, a very gentle soul with a wicked sense of humour. He was born in Derby in 1934 to Edith and Enoch Green and enjoyed a happy childhood, alongside his elder brother, Brian. He first met Margaret at the very early age of ten. They remained together, on and off, for a number of years until they married in 1959. Their love story continued for 63 very happy years.

Before his time in the Navy as Ships Electrician on Minesweepers, Trev' joined the Sea Cadets, where he made some great, life long friends, including Brian and Gordie - The Three Musketeers. His love of the sea continued as he followed his brother Brian into the Navy, where he met some more dear friends in Charlie (Brian) and Peter. The families remained close over the years, often meeting up and sharing fond memories. Throughout his long and happy life, Trevor made many true friends- far too many to mention -and stayed in touch as much as possible right until the end. He often reminisced about the fun times he and Margaret shared with them all throughout their youth, early married life and family life, and met up with as many friends and family as possible in his later years.

After he left the Royal Navy, Trevor worked at Rolls Royce - Royces - in Derby were he spent many happy years, even signing up as the goalkeeper for the 'works team'. He also tried his hand at professional boat building in Devon, turning his hobby into a profession, before deciding it was best left as a hobby and returning to work as a training adviser for EITB in Watford.

After moving around the country for work, Trevor and Margaret decided they preferred to be near the sea and moved to Locksheath near Southampton where they joined Netley Sailing Club. Lots of trips around Southampton Water, the Solent and over the the IOW were made in groups with other club members/friends - all thoroughly enjoyed. Trevor's love of sailing even earned him the nickname 'Sinbad' from some dear neighbours - who also christened his small sailing dinghy , which he kept in the garden, The African Queen!

Later, after spending time between Spain and the UK, Trevor and Margaret retuned full time to the UK to be nearer family and their new granddaughters, Georgia and Josephine, whom were always adored and with whom they would spend as much time as possible. The move to Kent as his health started to deteriorate was an upheaval, although he really loved being closer to some of his beloved family.

A real family man, Trev always tried to put them first. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and he and Margaret spent a lot of their social time sharing hobbies with the children, SallyAnn and Anthony - hobbies such as canoeing, sailing, photography fishing, motorbikes, high board diving, golf and badminton, and also his beloved RAMS - Derby County FC - who he supported for most of his life. He also enjoyed some really happy times at Lockswood Bowling club, where he and Margaret played and socialised often. Memories of family holidays with in laws, nephews and nieces, caravanning and time spent on trips in the campervan are very much treasured. He loved his holidays and travelling, but was always pleased to get home.

Trevor was a lovely man, a kind and very gentle soul - who will be sadly missed by all of his loving family and friends. . I am so proud to be your Daughter - you were the best dad we cold have ever wished for and we will all cherish every moment we ever spent with you. You were my hero and you'll stay in our hearts forever
