In loving memory of Graham Hooks who sadly passed away on 22nd November 2022.

Graham was born in Belfast in 1955 and at the age of 17 he joined the Army, serving the vast majority of his service in the Royal Engineers. He specialised as a bomb disposal engineer, serving in Belize, Canada, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Gibralter, Germany and Northern Ireland.

After leaving the Army, Graham joined Kent Police. He worked within uniform response, neighbourhood policing, CID and the Area Major Enquiry Team. He retired as a Detective Sergeant.

Graham carried out voluntary work for several organisations, most notably the Cruse Bereavement Care charity. He became a counsellor and helped individuals struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one. He also took on fund raising responsibilities and administrative duties for the charity. Graham also became a Magistrate, working in courts within the Kent area and making key decisions in respect of criminal cases.

Graham was a family man; loved by all of those around him. He is survived by his Wife Moira, his sons Paul and Gary, his step children Jackie and Karen, his grand children, and his siblings, Thomas and Margaret.

A service will be held at the Medway Crematorium, Robin Hood Lane, Chatham at 1pm on Thursday 22nd December 2022.

The family have requested donations to Parkinson's UK Charity rather than flowers.

I will be 90 years old in January 2023 & I'm not as strong as I used to be. Sadly, I am unable to make the journey from N. Ireland to attend my youngest son's funeral. Thankfully my eldest son (Thomas) & my daughter (Margaret) will be able to attend. Taken too early, may my son rest in Peace, Mum x

I had the pleasure of working with Graham in Maidstone, both in uniform and CID. Graham was the ultimate professional and a great leader of his teams. So sad to hear of his passing, he was and will always be respected as a great COP and a gentleman.

I worked with Graham at Sittingbourne where he was my DS on the Major Enquiry Team. At the time I was going through a lot and Graham was the kindest, most caring person I have ever met. I will be forever grateful for him being there for me . As a team we always had such a laugh both at work and at the pub after work.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
A true gent who will be sorely missed
