In loving memory of this beautiful lady, my Mum, Maureen June Hills, who sadly passed away on 18th November 2022, suddenly but peacefully at The Firs Care Home. Mum's life was dedicated to her family, her love and commitment to us all was overwhelming even after Dad passed away in 2010 after 50 loving years together, she missed him so much but her dedication to us never faltered, she was our constant ray of sunshine, her smile lit up our days and anyone who met her.
Mum was taken poorly in late 2016 and went into hospital when her only great-granddaughter Sophia was just 3 months old. We were constant visitors, Sophia growing up in the wards of RUH Hospital and then The Firs Care Home, charming the carers and other residents and often Sophia could be seen sticker-bombing someones wheel chair!
We gained an extended family at The Firs, Mum charmed everyone, a truly gracious, proud lady who became affectionately known as Gran & Mother. She never made a fuss, she may have occasionally muttered under her breath or gave an eye-roll which was normally aimed at me and my social evenings out, I can hear her now - Sandra, I don't understand why you go to pubs and drink ! but she always had that twinkle in her eye and that beautiful smile.
I can't believe it's already been a week since she left us but I am so grateful and privileged that I and her grandchildren were there and she passed away peacefully, in her home, in her bed, surrounded by the love of all the carers who will always have a place in our hearts and a Corona in our fridge.
We have lost an incredible Mum, Nan and Great-Gran, life can never be the same without you, rest in peace Mum, you are now reunited with Dad.
Your loving daughter Sandra xxx

Our family thank each and every one of you that attended Mum’s celebration of life today including her Grandson Dominic and Carter in New Zealand and our cousin Sarah in Australia who joined us via livestream and for all the lovely messages we received from those who couldn’t be with us, you all did her so proud. A beautiful send off for a beautiful lady with special thanks to Odette Funeral Directors, The Firs Care Home and Sister Jenny Colby for making her last journey so very special. You are now reunited with Dad, life can never be the same without you here but you are forever in our hearts, and our memories will last a lifetime, we love and miss you both so much ♥️

I remember her as "the caretaker's wife" at Sheldon school and the bungalow she lived in with you (Sandra) and your dad. The epic journey back on a coach trip to London has stayed with me, arriving very late outside your house with her anxiously looking out for you as we all disembarked. She was so relieved to see you - a mother's love.

I remember when Maureen worked in the co-op cafe and she used to meet me at the bus from corsham. She gave me my tea and then we used to go to pictures after. We got the bus home to giddeahall on the old bus. I was twelve at the time and when I started work in town I went to her house for lunch. X

I had the honour and privilege to care for Maureen and she will be missed by all of us. I have so many happy and funny memories of Gran and have never known anybody to hide her mashed potato in so many different ways. Miss Maureen and her beautiful smile.

I only knew your mum for 10 months, but in that time she was so lovely. Brightest smile for a mile. Her one liners were so funny. Never moaned, always a pleasure to care for. She loved her family, and we loved her.
RIP Maureen you are missed xx
