In loving memory of Barry Lintern who sadly passed away on 11th November 2022.
Originally from Beckenham, Barry lived with his wife, Jane in Speldhurst for the last 29 years. Barry was a loyal husband, a great father and an amused grandfather. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
For anyone attending the funeral, wear what makes you feel comfortable, there is no obligation to wear black.

Barry, you will be greatly missed. I will never forget the great memories I have of you and will treasure them always. New Years party was always the social event of the year when I was young :) Thankyou for always showing me love and kindness, you were unapologetically you!

It was with great shock and sadness when Imelda and I heard the news of Barry's illness and subsequent death. We knew Barry from the early 70s meeting up through hockey, when he first joined Thames Poly hockey club as a goalkeeper. He shone instantly, playing in the first team soon after he joined the club. Barry was good as a keeper, probably because he had a footballing background, so could kick the ball with absolute aplomb (a pre-requisite for any hockey goalkeeper). We also knew him through his playing for the mixed hockey side, The Owls, and the indoor hockey side, Kent Cobs. Barry showed his excellence as a keeper in the London League, which was so noticed by the upper echelons of hockey that he was selected to trial for England.
Barry was also a good friend outside of hockey and we were pleased to attend his wedding to Jane. Barry left 'our' hockey scene having moved to Purley but we continued to keep in contact. Many a good time was had during meals with them both – we still remember being introduced to Barry's version of “Call My Bluff” which sometimes left us in stitches at the obscure words and incorrect definitions that arose during the game. We saw them often notably Barry's fiftieth and there was an “out of the blue” chance meeting in Hove. With Barry and Jane's move to the USA and South Africa and our move to the Midlands the years fell away but we remained in contact through letters and Christmas cards.
In the last year or two, we were so glad to meet up again at Burnt Ash Hockey Club for a hockey reunion event, immediately picking up with ease where we had “left off”. When we last met in April we all vowed to meet up again soon. Sadly, that wasn't to be for Barry.
We shall miss him.
