In loving memory of Mark Charles Humphrys who sadly passed away on 12th October 2022, aged 59 years.

The church service will be followed by a family committal.

Mark will be forever missed by wife Clare, son William, daughter Alice, family and many friends.

Mark was born in 1962 in Uganda where his Dad served as an Agricultural Officer.
His early life was spent in East Sussex before his family moved to Winchester in the mid 1960s. After Prep School Mark went on to Epsom College where he found his lifelong loves of rugby and cricket and a host of what became lifelong friends.
After a year off Mark went on to complete his BEd at Borough Road ( West London Institute of Higher Education ) now part of Brunel University. It was there in 1986 that he met Clare and they were married in 1992 in Rainham Kent.
Mark spent over 30 years as a Physical Education teacher at The Howard School where he will be fondly remembered by staff and pupils alike. In addition he was a member of Gillingham Anchorians RFC and enjoyed some great seasons as scrum half in the First Xv. Mark also had a lifelong passion for cricket playing at school, in Kent and for the Surrey wandering side Grasshoppers.
Mark was above all a dedicated and loving family man to his wife Clare and children William and Alice.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the wider community.
Immediate family flowers only please. If desired, donations in Mark's memory for 'Pancreatic Cancer UK' and 'The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice' would be gratefully received, and can be made online via this page. Thank you.

Just seen this sad news on Facebook. I remember Mr Humphrys fondly from my days as a pupil at the Howard. He was really nice teacher and did his best to encourage the un-sporty, chubby 11-year old I was back then. So sorry for your loss.

We were privileged to have met Mark & Clare, 25 years ago, on a local NCT Antenatal Course, prior to the birth of our children. We kept in touch over the years and our children met, played and grew up, together; our daughters attended the same secondary school and were both in its senior school choir: ‘Enchant’. We count Mark & Clare as very dear and special friends. Rest in peace, dear Mark. All our love to the Humphrys family from the Gollay family. xxx
