Michael John Crick (8 Jan 1940 - 11 Oct 2022)

Always remembered, rest in peace.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Michael or MJ as his close friends knew him for over 70 years

We were at high school together and during the long summer holidays we played MJ’s great passion

Cricket !!

MJ a great batsman probably county level if he had put his mind to it but I think VAL came by and he lost interest ha ha

Although we spoke occasionally over the years it was at a friends funeral we found we both enjoyed another of his passions

Golf !!

MJ and some other friends from the same close background came to my home in Somerset each year for some 15 years and spent a week playing golf drinking wine and chatting!!

Golf became a little more serious and trophies were gifted and played for and the “Kentish Cobb “ a trophy gifted by MJ will be sitting in a cabinet somewhere!

The group grew and became nine

In fact a band of brothers !!
Golf was average but the friendship irreplaceable

I was lucky enough to speak with MJ a few days before he died
Although very ill he was his usual belligerent 😎self as sharp as a tack and trying to make fun and put the world to right

Unfortunately I am not able to drive great distances any more so I shall not be able to be with him at his funeral

However he and his family will be in my thoughts

A great friend and a nice bloke

Mick was a clever guy ,kind ,thoughtful and a good friend . He was a good sportsman especially good at Cricket and Golf and with other friends use to take part with our annual golf meeting. I have known him since childhood and am very sorry that he has passed on
