Pamela Loveland (7 Jul 1929 - 12 Sep 2022)

In loving memory of Pamela Ivy Loveland who sadly passed away on 12th September 2022.
Born in Merrow on the 7th July 1929, a 2nd daughter for Frank and Kate Webber and a sister for Madge.
Pam, known as Ivy as a child, grew up and went to school in Merrow. She left school at 14 and trained initially to be a hairdresser but having been born with a scoliosis Pam found standing for long periods too painful so then went to work at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
At the age of 19 Pam met her husband to be, Robert Loveland, at Bellfields Youth Club where they both discovered a love of ballroom dancing. After belatedly serving his national service Pam and Robert (Bob) married in 1953.
December 1960 saw the birth of their first child, a daughter, Nicola followed 2 years later by a son, Michael. After spending a period of time in Burpham and Croydon in 1969 the family moved and settled permanently in Cranleigh. Family life was the most important thing for Pam and Bob taking great pleasure from spending time with their children. Long walks, driving to Worthing to spend time by the sea, rowing on the river, always with a picnic involved.
Following the move to Cranleigh Pam worked part time for David Manns and then at Wilkinson Durham Solicitors (became TWM).
Pam enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including yoga, Medau, badminton and briefly golf. Once she had retired in 1989 Pam took up lawn and short mat bowls.
Although Pam had learnt to drive, passing her test in 1968, her preferred mode of transport was pushbike and could often be seen cycling up the Ewhurst Road in Cranleigh with 2 full shopping bags precariously swinging from the handlebars.
The 1990's saw the arrival of 5 grandchildren and then 1 step - granddaughter. All of them were a constant joy and pleasure and Pam was never happier than when she was spending time with them, usually simple pleasures like sweeping up fallen leaves in the autumn or building sandcastles on the beach in the summer.
Following the death of Bob in 2007, in 2011 Pam moved from the family home to Elmbridge Retirement Village where she spent 10 very happy years making new friends, keeping up with old friends and still maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
On new years eve 2020 Pam unfortunately suffered a stroke. Following 6 weeks in hospital Pam was not well enough to return to Elmbridge Village so went to live at Deepdene Care Centre where she sadly passed away on 12th September 2022.
Pam lived her life with love, compassion, positivity and laughter and would want all of her family and friends to move forward with the same and to embrace everything that life has to offer.
We will all miss her.
