Michael Sidney Doy (29 Apr 1940 - 31 Aug 2022)

The sense of shock and extreme sadness on receiving the call from Jeff on the sudden loss of his brother Michael,
has left many dealing with feelings of disbelief at the loss and all that he meant to so many.
Sometime words seem inadequate but we all know he was blessed with a good life. All his achievements in his working
life. His travelling around the globe, his many interests in life and sucess which he achieved.
But the lovely part of his life that he shared with his dear wife Eithen and the memories they made and treasured.
His close family Jeff his family nieces nephews and friends and all he met on his journey of life. They are all blessed
with treasured memories that stay with us always.
As Michael is reunited with all his loved ones, we have peace in our minds that they are all together once again.
God has you in his keeping. We have you in our hearts.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike in Ireland and during visits to London through his niece Vourneen. I found Mike to be lightheartedly Grumpy, very much set in his ways but also interested and insightful. He basically combined the contradictions of all my favorite Roald Dahl, Disney and Monty Python characters into one infuriatingly lovable presence. I will never forget the times we spent with him and his lovely wife Eithne in the Irish country side as well as being warmly welcomed London. True times of life enjoyment. I love how he never seemed to loose interest in life. Looking at the property section, going on trips away, enjoying culture and studying until his last breath. Rest well dear Mike and thank you for all the lovely memories.

Several years back, I met Michael and his lovely wife,Eithna, on a trip to London with my “Mate” (Jeff). Jeff is Mikes younger brother and the trip was amazing. Michael and Eithna opened their wonderful home to us and upon our arrival cooked a traditional bangers and mash. That night will be a memory I will always cherish. I can still remember Michael preparing the dinner and Eithna being so interested in getting to know me, an American, and learning about my profession as a law enforcement officer. It was the first time I met them and they made me feel so welcome and comfortable. Over the next couple days both Michael and Eithna continued with their hospitality and gave me the insiders guide around London. The trip will always be with me in my mind and heart. I never had the chance to speak again with Eithna after that trip but was able to see Michael on a few of his trips to the states to visit Jeff. During those trips, my visits with Michael felt like I had known him my whole life. I guess Michael and Eithna were those kind of people, the kind who seem to take a interest in others and made them feel comfortable. Truly amazing people. Michael may you Rest In Peace with your lovey bride, Eithna and may God Bless you Both!

Discussing economics and the world, telling him stories of his nephews, Lowen & Ewan, sharing Indian takeaway in his apartment on the Thames...I'm blessed to have such fond memories of my uncle Mike that I can forever turn to. He lived a full life and was adept at engaging in deep, thoughtful conversation. Mike always gave me something to consider about life. I hope that he now rests well with his love, Eithne. He will be missed and remembered.

I worked with Mike on one of his houses in London, many years ago and found him to be a great guy, and easy to work with, so sorry to hear of his passing, our feelings are with you.Rod.

My earliest memory of Uncle Mike was when I was a kid he got me the coolest thing ever a Sony Walkman, loved that thing listened to music everyday. Conversations with uncle Mike was always interesting and left you thinking.He loved talking about Rugby. I had the pleasure of seeing Mike and Eithna at there Canary Wharf home when I was on business trips to Wimbledon. I’m happy I got too see him at Kyle’s wedding.

My favorite memory of Mike was his love of lobster rolls.(The hot buttered kind). Whenever he visited us in the States he was on the look-out for them. Here are a few places where he enjoyed them. The 121 restaurant in the Oxford CT. airport. You could watch small planes take off and land from the windows overlooking the runway. In Gloucester, Massachusetts on his birthday, April 29th, 2022. The Bethlehem Fair in Bethlehem, Connecticut. Mike and I ordered the rolls from a food truck and ate them at a picnic table. We decided they were absolutely the best lobster rolls we had ever eaten. That day with Mike will always remain as a very special memory.

A full and happy life well-lived, full of travels and interests. I'm glad to have gotten to know Uncle Mike over the years and am grateful our last memories were at Kyle's wedding, where he got to know his great-nephews, Lowen and Ewan. I'll always remember our visits to him and Eithne fondly and will cherish the memories that were made. I'm glad to know we have a stack of hand-written letters from Uncle Mike that we can return to when he is in our thoughts.

I was so glad to have gotten to know Mike these past few years through Kirby and Kyle. He was so intelligent, kind and had a great sense of humour. A real gentleman! He lived a fantastic and full life. Great memories of him at his beautiful home and at the wedding this year. Sending lots of love to his family. XX

We only had the pleasure of Mike’s company a few times over the years, but each time we met he seemed to be truly happy and interested in what everyone was “up to”.His smile and his sense of humor was endearing. I’m glad that we were able to see him this past April at Kyle and Kirby’s wedding and chat for awhile.

Wow, what a beautiful, rich life. I only met Mike in person once at Kyle and Kirby's wedding. But when you are with him once it seems like you have know him your whole life. He was so easy to be with, full of stories and information. I am so grateful that he was able to attend the wedding and give us the opportunity to meet him. Rest in Peace Mike.

I am so glad we had the chance to meet Mike at Kirby's and Kyle's wedding. The legend of Uncle Mike preceded him and he did not disappoint - a very sweet, smart, funny man living his best to the end. He will be missed.

I met Mike in a transitional time of my life, and while seperated from my own family, he offered kind words of support and warm company, something I despereratley needed at the moment. I will always be thankful for my brief time spent with him and will forever remember him as a generous man.

We always enjoyed talking with Mike when came across the pond to visit us in the former colonies! Especially thankful we got to talk with him at Kyle’s wedding in Cambridge, MA last April. Very personal and friendly guy. He was still taking college courses - so impressive! He will be missed.

We met Michael several times over the years and found him to be intelligent, funny and cordial. We had good conversations about many subjects, and he interjected a different perspective and knowledge of world affairs. He will be truly missed.
