In loving memory of Duggie Brown who sadly passed away on 16th August 2022. The dearly loved husband of Jackie, dear dad of Jackie and a great friend to so many.

Duggie was born , Barry Douglas Dudley, on the 7th August 1940 in his parents home at 11, Vernon Road, in Broom Rotherham.
His mother Agnes Dudley ( née Donahue) and his father Eric Dudley, adored him, he was their 3rd child, he had an older Sister Jean, ( who became a singer and Actress, named Lynne Perry, and Brother Keith, who immigrated to Kenya in the 1960's, and became a manager in the copper mines.
In his younger days, Duggie worked as a milkman, window cleaner, and in Steel Peach and Tosers in Sheffield, then he joined a skiffle group, later becoming the lead singer and then they re named themselves firstly, The Douglas Brown Four, and then The Four Kool Katz, playing all over the country, then remaing in Scotland for a number of years, performing at the Pavillion and Kings Theatres Glasgow, and The Gaiety Theatre Ayr.
Eventually, Duggie went solo, returning to Yorkshire and playing the clubs. He was spotted by the producer Johnnie Hamp from Granada Television, and he became one of the successful original members of 'The Comedians' Saturday night TV show.
After the end of the long running series he turned to acting and played the part of the Milkman in the film Kes for Ken Loach, many parts followed, he had his own TV series Take My Wife, and The Glamour Girls, was in the BBC Enigma Files, and recently at the age of 81, played the pensioner Ted Spears in Coronation Street, when Faye and Emma ran him down with their car, and ran over his ginger nuts!
He was the kindest, sweetest man, always singing, and happy, loved working in Commercials, from Aldi, Tesco, Amazon, and The Co Op.
We met in the Comedians Stage show on The North Pier Blackpool in 1972, I was a Pam Devis dancer, he was one of the Comedians.
I was lucky to be with him for 50 years, married to him for 40, and we travelled around the World on Cruise ships, on the strength of his Talent, he made millions laugh, and I am so proud of him.
The past four and a half weeks he was so brave and strong, showing stalwart courage in the face of adversity, when faced with life threatening sudden onset illness, causing him excruciating pain and suffering with Septicaemia and Necrotising facilitus, they think he contracted from the soil while gardening.
I will love and miss him forever, he was my soul mate, and best friend, and I was his. We were a team, and I know we will be together again of that I am certain.
Fly high my funny man, you have earned yourself a special place in Heaven.
Your ever loving wife,
Jackie. Xxxx

I was hoping to attend the service today but due to family reasons was unable to. I did however watch the service online, a wonderful send off for a wonderful man.
Dougie cam into my life twice, years apart. Firstly when I had an entertainment business & booked Dougie for a NAT WEST regional dinner in Manchester, and again years later when I worked at Manchester Airport & Dougie used to leave his car with us before flying off to meet cruise ships.

You will be very sadly missed Dougie. RIP

I will always remember the forever smile in Duggie's eyes. He greeted you with warmth and laughter everytime. We would exchange the ventriloquist distant voice each time we met. He always made me smile, when I think of him, I still smile. I'm sad to not be at the service. I shall be watching and smiling throughout and will never forget his kind soul x Sending Jackie many hugs and much love xxx

Duggie was always lovely and friendly with a smile on his face.
We always said hello to each other whenever we saw each other down the street doing our shopping in Tickhill.
He was truly a wonderful and talented man.
I remember taking my kids to see him many years ago at the civic in Doncaster where he was play Super Sarah in Pantomime. Extremely funny.
Rest in peace.
