In loving memory of Alex Varley who sadly passed away on 20th July 2022.

There will be those who remember Alex from his Volkswagen days, usually covered in oil, with his head in an engine bay, or may know him from his love of music, through work, or as Alex the proud father of Isobel, Juliette and Tom. Regardless of how you knew him Alex certainly left a mark wherever he went.

A service of remembrance will be held at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Ashlawn Road, Rugby on Wednesday 7th September at 4pm, with cake to follow at The Rugby Railway Club, Hillmorton Road, CV22 5AL

In lieu of flowers we gratefully ask for donations to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, should you so wish.

I will miss you tremendously Dada V 🖤 Thank you for years of helping me sort out problems, your humor and your wit, hotel breakfasts, pretending to be ninjas, threatening to break the bones of boys or girls who are mean to me and a million other things. Love you always 🖤 xxx

Alex, although we didn’t meet often, when we did, you never failed to make us laugh. Rest easy.

It is hard being a parent, especially when you have lost two deeply loved children.
Alex was never afraid to express his own opinions and like many children often disagreed with his parents. Nevertheless,he was always kind and thoughtful towards other people often, without warning, producing gifts he thought they needed.
His last six years were extremely difficult knowing that his cancer would ultimately be terminal and that it was caused by the failure of his former employers to comply with health and safety regulations, not through any fault of his own. He never complained or grumbled to us about his condition and throughout his illness he thought of his immediate family and did everything he could to provide for their future.
We have watched him bear insufferable pain and discomfort which he fought with strength and bravery right up until the end and even though he knew he had little time left, his last words to his Mother were: "Relax Mum!"

Alex, so sad I didn’t get up to see you, so much I wanted to say! You taught me so much, how to stand up for myself, to always question everything I was told, even by you! To ask more questions, to challenge the answers.! You introduced me to the circus of horrors. Now that was fun. I got to see you and Angela have the most amazing wedding and bring three beautiful intelligent children on to the world. I’m so grateful for last summer, watching Willow follow your every move was magic. Alex, Ruben, willow, myself and col will miss you. You were so loved xx

For my friend Grumpy Pants, a rare, kind & generous friend who unlike many who say they say it like it is and clearly don’t, he did. One of the rare honest ones - I’ll miss him x

Alex was truly one of life’s special people. He was great friend and if he could help he just would. He challenged people and expected people to challenge others.
