In loving memory of John Dennis Simms who sadly passed away on 28th July 2022 aged 82, a dear husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a true gentleman, a gentle giant, a provider, one in a million and the crutch of the family doting on us all.

A lorry driver since he was sixteen, lorries and loads were part of his life, driving on the roads in the UK and Continent for different haulage contractors and eventually going on to being his own boss driving his own lorries. From Covent Garden to Spain, wherever he went, he knew the roads and traffic like the back of his hand. He fully retired at 72.

In 2013 his kidneys started to fail which led to him spending nine years on dialysis at Maidstone Renal unit three times a week. Sadly, his health started to deteriorate in May 2021 following a stent operation and from there in his mobility weakened and he started to have falls. He fell and broke his hip this June and spend almost three weeks at St. Thomas’s London before being sent home with a care package but caught pneumonia and passed away peacefully in Medway Hospital on his Diamond Wedding Anniversary, following 60 years of marriage to Ann.

He was loved much and will be deeply missed by all his family. Sleep tight John, Dad, Grandad, Great grandad, until we meet again.

The donations are to be allocated to the Renal Unit at Maidstone Hospital of whom we are truly grateful for looking after him for these last nine years.
