In loving memory of Paul Anthony Toogood, who sadly passed away on 20th July 2022, aged 52 years.

He was incredibly young when he died, but certainly lived life to the full.

His biggest love in life was travel and he explored the world as much as he could, he spent many years on and off travelling whilst working in-between to fund his trips. Paul's favourite part of the world was the far east, he was at his happiest when travelling, India he adored and even met the Dalai Lama.

He had many hobbies growing up from fishing, break dancing and body popping to being a local legend on the BMX track, winning so many trophies in competitions all over the UK, he was so talented. He found enjoyment in painting too in his forties.

He loved his friends and had many fun and crazy times, Ibiza dance days and Paul on the dance floor was a crazy site, he had the moves.

Paul was a bit of a Del Boy and spent quite a few years in Spain running a market stall, selling antiques and treasures that he would buy from Morocco. He continued selling Antiques when home in the UK. Before Spain, Paul had a successful spell in renovating windows on Victorian houses. He started his working life in the building trade working for a lovely chap Danny Farmer.

Sadly Paul suffered with his mental health on and off over the years, so his last years were tough on him, he's at peace now and we hope he's off out there exploring again.

God Bless x

Condolences to the Toogood family for the terrible loss of Paul. I first met Paul down the Helsinki in Leicester with his partner in crime Chris Booga Bennett, a few years later I hung out with him in Sydney, Australia for a year where he mastered surfing in the Northern Beaches with Trav and Gaz Monk. There was never a dull moment when Paul was around, and he would always help you out if you needed it. Will remember him always.

  • Thanks Justin, great to hear all these stories. I'd forgotten about him surfing, anything he turned his hand to he was great at it. A short but full and fun packed life x

Sending my deepest condolences to Gail and the family.
I can’t believe that Paul has gone. So sorry I missed your funeral Paul. I didn’t know.
I was listening to ‘our song’ the other day , ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay that he sang all the time, when we lived in Spain and India together, about 20 years ago and something told me to Google Paul . What a shock.
What a fantastic life we had back then. Paul was always adventurous and he made a wicked curry! Paul was magical, passionate, unique, fun, a party animal, nuts, a healer, funny and charming. He wore his heart on his sleeve. A special soul, with a massive heart.
I’m gutted you’re gone. Thank you Paul for one of the best periods in my life.
‘Til we meet again 😢
Love Nayome x

  • Hi Gail. It’s okay. I’m not that easy to find, because I’m not on any social media platforms. I had a big drink for Paul yesterday on his birthday. What amazing character he had. Big, warm energy. God bless him. I’m thinking of you all. You are in my prayers. Take care x x

We heard through the grapevine that 'Togood' had passed away. First met Paul through the dance scene 89/90. Again in Ibiza 91/92 and again in India 93/94. Years have blended over time. Sad to hear news of his passing, remember Paul from the original Leicester crew. Liane 💜

Don't know where to start, maybe at the start.

I met Paul with the Leicester lot in ibiza in 91, we all just bonded and got on that well that in that winter we all landed again in Tenerife 91 - 92. We all kept in touch for a few years. Back n forth Birmingham to Leicester and going the other way. I went off and ended up in California, we kept I'm touch loosely, randomly
on social. Last I heard he was in a jungle somewhere in Asia. Paul was
always a shining light, a good friend and a lot of fun.I always wandered how he was and always thought I would bump into Paul again one day. If I can make it to the funeral and its ok with everyone, I will try as I now live in Cambridgeshire.
My love and condolences to you all and Paul's nearest and dearest.

Stuart

  • When I looked at that picture my first thought was that he robbed that T-shirt of me in the end! But that was Toogood. We had great times all over the world, We saw, did and learned a lot. I have so many funny stories with him and I‘ve not stopped telling them. I won’t make the funeral but I’ll thinking of him today.

  • Paul was funny, kind, mischievous and had so much character, he made everyone smile who met him. I spent a lot of time with him in Ibiza and India, his stories could fill a book. Sorry I couldn’t be there today. The world he wandered is a sadder place without him. Taz x

  • We all remember Paul at English Martyrs.. A legend and always up to mischief 🙏😁

Posted by Sharon on 11/08/2022 Report abuse
  • I went to English Martyrs with Paul and always got paired up with him in class as our surnames matched alphabetically. I’ve thought about him often and wondered where life took him. He was such a kind, funny but very naughty kid which always made me laugh. He used to pinch my rubber and put it on his crotch and say, if you need to use it you have to get it 🤣 I’m so so sorry to read of his passing. I haven’t seen him since I was 14 (now 53) but still think of him. I found out in a random way and couldn’t believe it. Condolences to all his friends, family and those that loved him. RIP Paul. Gone way too early xx
