In loving memory of Marjorie Render (Madge) who suddenly passed away on Tuesday 5th July 2022. Since the passing of her husband Bryon Render (Bry) in 2016 Madge moved away from Snaith to live closer to her family, just around the corner from Paul and his wife Angie, whilst still very close to John who lived in Goole.

Madge and Bry retired from the Black Lion in Snaith in 1999 and moved to Pollington, before moving back to Snaith.

In the late '70s and early 80's, Madge and Bry ran the Station Inn on Ousegate, Selby. Their very first Public House.

Madge was a very much loved Mum, Grandma, Great Grandma, Auntie, and Sister to Gordon and Eileen (Deceased).

Her Funeral will take place at York Crematorium on Friday 22nd July at 2.20 pm.

Family flowers only and donations if desired to the British Heart Foundation,

Marjorie

When “Marjorie” was used to address her she would say “that’s my Sunday name”, so we had to use “Madge”, her sister Eileen as “Our Ile” and finally “Gordie”.

I can remember that this was a cause of amusement. When chatting with “Madge” there was always a hint of amusement in her voice.

She had the ability to befriend strangers - the perfect landlady.

With Eileen living in York and Madge in Pocklington, we all met up on a Thursday each month to dine out at a variety of local pubs and put the world to rights. Eileens’ slow eating featured in the conversations, to her consternation.

After we lost Eileen, Madge and I had phone conversations, beginning at 7.15 and covering many topics, long or short, on each Sunday evening. These are much missed. Our weekly conversations covered memories of Rowntrees Girls train from Selby, her jaunts into Pocklington town on Tuesdays for food, and her hair do (of which she was rightly proud). Songs of Praise on Sundays to approve, or not, which she would sing along to quietly when on her own, and much more.

Madge took great pleasure from being told how young she looked for her age, - she was always very smartly turned out.

At the end of our calls we expressed our thanks to each other for how we had enjoyed the contact.

Madge always spoke gratefully and warmfully appreciative of all the love and care which Angie showed for her, along with Paul and John.

“Madge”

Aunty Madge was a dear Aunt and such a lovely lady. We loved her to bits.
I remember childhood holidays at their home and in recent years she enjoyed holidays at our home in Spain.
Madge was always good company. She showed an interest in others and was fun to be with. I remember her playing ball with the Spanish children here when she was 80!
She lived life to the full and was loved and respected by all who were fortunate to know her.
Condolences to her sons Paul and John and to her brother Gordon.
God Bless Aunty Madge.

My hubby Malc and I have many great memories years ago in the Butcher Arms Pub, Millgate. We at that time around 1960-64 lived down Simpsons Yard at the back of the pub.
Our condolences to you and your family. Remember The Happy Times always. 🤗🤗
