Ernie Potter (7 Apr 1956 - 6 Jan 2022)

In loving memory of Ernie Potter who sadly passed away on 6th January 2022 aged 65.
Ernie was born 7th April 1956, in Lichfield. He was one of 7 children, he had 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He had an amazing life as a child travelling all over the world with his mom and dad due to his dad being in the army.
Ernie moved to Tamworth with his family in 1969. He went to work at Garden Centre where he stayed for a number of years before moving to work on the roads laying Tarmac.
In 1982 he met Karen and after courting for 5 years they married in April 1987. They went on to have 3 children Emily Lucy and Thomas. He then worked for Tamworth Borough Council as a grass cutter, then he became a ground worker. Over the years they lived in Stonydelph and Glascote before settling in Irwell Belgrave close to family and friends. He was a hardworking family man.
Lucy made him a Grandad (Gaga) in June 2007 to a little girl Morgan.
In 2010 Ernie was diagnosed with COPD and had to give up work, he soon adapted to the change in his lifestyle and enjoyed cooking and looking after his garden.
In June 2012 Lucy made him a grandad again when she gave birth to Emelia. He was a devoted grandad to both girls.
He enjoyed many years at home with his family. He was a kind and considerate man, always willing to help others.
In December 2021, Ernie's COPD flared up and he ended up in Good hope hospital, after 3 weeks on the respiratory ward Ernie sadly passed away surrounded by his loving family.
