I meet Richard in our earlier year in the Somerset RC. Richard was alway keen to do the Saturday & Sunday club run which around 80 miles on a Sunday morning. Richard was good to ride with, and enjoy having chats about cycling when I’ve seen him on his post round. He was always keen and enthusiastic.
Fond memories, you will be missed, RIP Richard

I will always remember the time Rich (and a few others) chased the Tour of Britain riders off Exmoor through Elworthy Cross and into Taunton, was also grateful for his help at some of the SRC cyclo-cross events in Taunton, rest well fella.

I enjoyed talking bikes with Richard, he was so passionate about cycling, we had some lovely conversations. He just seemed like such a genuine, gentle person. Our thoughts are with Ang and family at this very sad time.

Brilliant at both the cycle charge and the Napoleonic cavalry charge. A great wargamer and painter, a natural artist combined with the stylish dress sense of Joachim Murat himself. You will be missed mon brave.

Rich, you’re gonna be missed. The story about the split in the back of my head and the nurse gluing her glove to it always made me laugh, what a ride that was. I always think of us mucking around in the lead up to that crash. Really sorry to hear of your passing. You’re a gent and I’ll always remember you fondly.

Rich lived for his cycling and in particular loved to ride the boards at the Geraint Thomas Velodrome of Wales in Newport. Here he is at the cyclone team event October 2019

  • Thank you Jason. Rich lived for the track Jason, loved your sessions and wore his pdq kit with pride when he did a duathlon.
