In loving memory of Maggie Sinclair who sadly passed away on 7th January 2022.
Maggie was born in Partick, Glasgow, on the 2nd of April 1954, the first of Willie and
Betty Sinclair’s eight children. From the age of five she attended the local primary
school, St Peter’s. When she was nine, the family upped sticks and migrated to
Drumchapel, where Maggie continued her education at St Lawrence’s Primary and
then, at twelve, moved to St Pius’ Secondary where she consistently shone
scholastically, attaining Dux in her final year. From there she became the first ever
Sinclair family member to go to university and ended up gaining an Honours degree
in Microbiology at Glasgow Uni. Thereafter, she decided to enter the teaching
profession, with her first posting being at Knightswood Secondary, (as a biology and
Science teacher) then Queens Park Secondary, where she became principal biology teacher and, finally, Gleniffer High, Paisley, where she was ultimately appointed Deputy Head. Once retired,
Maggie could devote all the time she wanted to her hobbies, her most enduring and gratifying being
running; but there was also distance walking and hill climbing; and various cultural
pursuits – primarily opera, jazz and classical music; and travel. It was on a holiday in
Canada, in 2016, that Maggie first felt something was amiss in her body
and, on returning home, she decided to have it investigated. Thus began a five year
battle with cancer, during which she stoically endured the trials of radical surgery and
numerous cycles of chemotherapy as well as voluntary participation in medical trials
at the Beatson. Maggie died peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on
the 7th of January with loved ones by her side.

Funeral service at North Dalnottar Crematorium, Clydebank at 2.30pm on Monday 31st January.

SO sorry to hear of Maggie's passing. I don't think I've ever seen Maggie not smiling. I have put up a photo from 1977 with the whole Microbiology crowd (minus Tom Morrow). - Martin and Sarah Kilkie
