You were a part of our lives for so long. The pictures of Karen and Sue with their best friend are the ones I love to look at. You hosted my wedding and you were there for me when I needed someone close to me and my mum when she couldn’t be there. Up to two weeks before mummy kept saying Bill said you need to pop up for lunch. Shine bright lovely man. I will miss you but not as much as my mum will xxx

I always remember uncle bill saying to me “material goods are nothing, experience is everything” - I think it was shortly after a story about having to leave Chris’ enormous trainers behind when packing the suitcase after a holiday in America because there was no room in the case, and much to chris’ distress bill just said “there’s no room, I’ll get you a new pair, we’re leaving them behind”. Or it might have been when he told me how much he’d enjoyed the experience of building his business to the extent he could have his own swimming pool etc but then once he had everything he was bored. Always have an unachievable ambition - it keeps you motivated.

Bill may no longer be materially with us but the experience of having known him, spent time with him, having listened to his inspiration will be with me always and is one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given.

Experience is everything. His was a life well lived. My Uncle Bill was and still is my inspiration.

I've spent many a time, while on holiday in Southampton, at one of my favourite "chill out" places at Bowlers Restaurant. Bill was always welcoming and he knew when I was on holiday as I always left a Scottish £10 in the til in the restaurant, it was always a standing joke between us. He will always be remembered as a very warm, generous gentleman who will be missed by all. I will still visit Bowlers and will always have a drink to the many memories we shares. Rest in peace We will meet again Bill, sleep well x
