I will never forget how we worked together in Tibet in 1988 when you travelled there with Lord David Ennals. After interviewing Tibetans you left Tibet with deep impressions and many documents pasted on your body. When we just recently reminisced about this moment you said that you were afraid to be strip searched at the Lhasa airport when you left. You made it to the UK with all the information where you continued to be a great supporter of Tibet. I was planning to come and see you in London in October to go through a box of documents and tapes you told me you’d kept in your house from that memorable trip. I was sad to hear you died before we could do so but happy we relived these special days before you passed on. Rest in peace.

I was fortunate to meet Riki in 2008. He is simply one of the best human beings I’ve ever met. A wonderful person full of wisdom, empathy and beauty.
I learned so much from him. He made me a better person simply by example.
The world is a poorer place with his passing, but a better place from his existence.
Rest in peace dear Riki, I love you
Arthur

Riki was one of the most important friends in my life. He helped get my refugee status. It was such a shame that I lost him. Thanks to him I can enjoy my rest of life free from fear.

I was so honoured to meet Riki 20 years ago when he came for driving lessons from the city of London to me in Salisbury. After a short while he introduced son Robin to me to teach him to drive. Over the years we became really good friends, Riki was such a gentleman, always so grateful for all that I taught him and Robin. He was a real family man, so proud and kind. He will so missed by them all. God bless you Riki. Fond memories from Clare Wigmore and husband Doug, and girl groom Shelleigh.

  • Dearest Riki, your passing leaves a huge gap in the lives of so many people. And that you were taken so suddenly from us. Go safely on your journey and be the brightest star xx
