In loving memory of Ann Barnett, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, loyal and true friend to many.

Ann Charlotte Sigrist was born in Jerusalem and brought up in East Africa for the most part. She attended the Loreto Convent, Nairobi, and eventually came home to England with her parents, sister, Ena, and brothers, John and Peter, when she was 16. She married Ian Barnett in 1954 and they settled in Cheltenham. They had two daughters, Patricia (Tissa, Tricia) and Gillian (Gilly) but later divorced. She was heartbroken when Gilly died at the age of 39. She worked in a variety of places but particularly loved her jobs in publishing with the Oxford University Press then Elsevier. After living in Oxford and Cheltenham, she moved to Leamington Spa to be nearer to Tricia and eventually moved down to Dorset with Tricia and husband, Mark, in 2018. Being nearer to her granddaughters, Lizzi and Sophie, and great-granddaughter, Sadie, brought her great joy and she loved the more rural life too. Sadly cancer struck then Covid brought lockdown and visits and outings were a things of the past. She had an incredibly positive outlook on life and was elegant to the end as those who saw her latterly will testify - floaty pink bed jackets and earrings were de rigueur. She made friends wherever she went in life and was a vivacious guest or hostess at any social occasion. She leaves a big gap in many hearts but her memory will live on.

In memory of Ann, whom I knew for many years as Tricia's Mum and as a friend in her own right. She was fun and feisty.
We had some great social times, with lots of laughter! I could talk to her and knew she cared. I will miss her.

Beautiful service on Friday. A huge thank you to all those who made it so - especially my dear mother who planned it - and to everyone who attended in person or who was with us in spirit. You all made it a very special occasion xxx

A brief acquaintance; welcoming her when she first came to a service in Pimperne church was such a pleasant experience.

Ann's 80th, she would have a go at anything, even blowing out the candles on a blazing birthday cake

Ann is a distant cousin who I didn't know that well, but I enjoyed her company when she visited Kate and I in Sidmouth in the 1980's and in Plymouth in 2005. May she rest in peace.

Lovely words Trish. Ann was my Aunt but Im sure in my memory somewhere I recall she wasn't keen on that particular moniker as I got older. I always found conversation with her easy, even when life was dealing her a harder hand. Dry humoured, honest but also very measured and rational. One of a kind, I'll miss her terribly. xxx
