Ian & Barbara Skilton & Family donated £100 in memory of Robert

Hi, just a few quick words to say how sad we all were to hear of cousin Robert's (that's what we called him!) passing. We have fond memories going right back to Beech Brae in our teens when we visited everybody on our holidays in Scotland and the good times that were had by all. Then when he came down to live in Peterborough his and Brenda's hospitality is unforgettable and we just want to take this opportunity to say thank you Robert and Brenda for all those nice memories that will not be forgotten.
We were all deeply affected and moved to tears by the Tribute given by John and the Reading by Sydney and all the other memories shared by the family with us on that sad day.
Will miss you 'big fella' and there is no doubt that we will all meet again some time and we will catch up with you then and reminisce ................. bye for now.

Where do I start?
What fabulous times I have been lucky enough to share with you and auntie brenda! Always full of cheek and open arms to hug!
on growing up, if at your house, if I wasn't allowed ..you would let me anyway. .my first experience of going to the pictures was superman in a Hut at billing ..because you said we could!
I remember coming to your old house in Peterborough every few weeks to the welcoming tune of crystal chandeliers!
The parrot that always mimicked your voice "buckering dog" it used to shout amongst other great things you taught it!
Every memory now locked in my heart!
Love you lots!!

Thankyou for being you!

For being a fabulous uncle and friend
For sharing many memories
And laughs that'll never end !!

I may have only known you as my father-in-law for some 15 years or so but it was as if I'd known you for the 29 years John and I have been married. You were such an easy person to get on with and always willing to help if you could . I will always be reminded of you when I watch John. You two are alike In so many ways it's as if you are twins !!!! Like father like son as they say .

Love Donna x x x

What can I say April 2000 you came into my life and changed it for good and for the better I'm now part of your legacy. Yes dad it has been a wonderful 15 years cut to short, but 15 years is better than none. I now know where my antics and emotions come from as we are both alike. I can say in the 15 years you still managed to teach me a thing or to and put me down the right road.
I would like to thank you for letting me into your life and my extended family and what a family,no words can describe how I feel about my brothers and sisters and Bren mum to us all.
Don't worry we are like the musketeers all for one and one for all, we will always be there for each other.
R.I.P Dad love you always your loving son John xxx
You will be sadly missed by all x

Grandad, I would like to thank you for everything you've done for all of us. The frequent visits, the shower of gifts, helping us when we needed, making us laugh and feel happy and of course that cheeky smile you had on your face that made you look like your were always up to something!!! I will miss you grandad, as we all will, but when people ask I'm not going to tell them how you left the world. I'm going to proudly tell them how you lived, and all that happiness and good memories and joy you brought with you and shared with us. I love you grandad, and I always will, rest in peace x

Sean xx

Memories of Robert

This is just a few memories of Robert;-

Robert & I & a few mates used to go to the hills to collect Seagull’s Eggs,& on the way back we used to go call in past ‘Auld Robbie Johnson’ who lived in an old cotter house, where we delivered some eggs down his chimney & put a piece of turf on top of it,Auld Robbie would come out of his door waving his arms about & shouting something,i think it was in “French”?,we didn’t stay long enough to find out what he was saying,we took to our heels,i’m sure he was saying,’I don’t like my eggs smoked ‘,never once did he thank us for his eggs. When we got back home we went to the Quarry & lit a fire & put some potatoes in the open fire & fried the eggs on a tin lid & had our Barbeque of fried eggs & roast potatoes, which went down well.

Talking of Quarry, the time that Robert fell down the Quarry & came to a prickley end in a bramble bush.He said something in “French” which i think “Auld Robbie Johnson” must have taught him.

We used to go to dances, far & near.We went to Banff one night to a dance, but before we went to the dance hall we called in the pub for a pint or two,or was it three or four?,anyway, Robert won the bottle of whiskey in the raffle, afterwards we went to the dance, where as usual i went to the toilet,& on exit i picked up a new toilet roll which i stuck on the neck of Robert’s whiskey bottle which was in his jacket pocket without him knowing, then he decided to have a walk round the hall,i stayed where i was, hanging on to the end of the roll as he wandered round the hall leaving a paper trail.

We had some very good times together,we never had an argument.

Robert was more than a Brother,he was a Playmate,Workmate,& a very good person to be with.

He would give you his last penny & help you out of trouble if he could. He will be dearly missed.

God Rest his Soul.

From your loving Brother;- Bill
