In loving memory of John Nigel Evered Witt who sadly passed away on 28th August 2021.
There were many charities that were close to John's heart and we have selected three to receive donations in his memory:
Papua Partners, who work to support the indigenous people of West Papua;
The MS Society
Holy Trinity Church Westcott, where he was churchwarden. Before he died, he was working with others on a re-ordering of the inside of the church to make it a more inclusive and flexible space for people with disabilities, and to provide new kitchen facilities. John was such a lovely guy and a force for good at Capsticks where I knew him. Our paths didn't cross often given our different disciplines and locations but he welcomed me to the equity with such warmth. When my husband Ian died he took the time to write to me with such sincerity and authenticity and I never forgot that. He didn't need to but did. I am so sorry for John having gone prematurely and for his family to hear this dreadful news. May you comfort yourselves with the love and happiness you all enjoyed with a very lovely man and the fact that what survives of us is love.

Having found a photo of John's sponsored abseiling in 2016 for this charity we thought we'd donate to this cause in memory of John. John's email circulating the photo reminded me of John's great sense of humour
"It was decidedly counter intuitive being asked to edge backwards over a mini platform 100 ft off the ground and then to lean back – but, once I got going, I was surprised what “fun” it was. Not exactly James Bond style (as you can see from the pic below) but both my son and I made it down safely..."
We will miss him and our thoughts are with Libby and family.
