In loving memory of William (Bill) Dodds who sadly passed away on 28th August 2021. Loving husband of the late Violet, beloved father of late Libby, Kay and Carrie, twin brother of Marjory and doting grandpa of Romy. Sadly missed by all relatives and friends.

Described by many as a 'gentle soul' and a 'gentleman', and known for his sparkling wit and good humour, Bill Dodds always had a smile on his face and took everything in his stride.

The wake will be held in the Private Dining Room at Oran Mor (Top of Byres Road, G12 8QX) after the funeral.

A sad day when cousin Bill passed away. Echoing others, Bill was always a delight to be with and our family visits on Christmas night to Alder Road (when he and Marjory were a tad younger) and then to Newlands, were occasions to be greatly savoured. Bill in Newlands ever the attentive and generous host, with a huge supply of wit and humour thrown in. I visited Bill with Carrie very recently and his retorts were as sharp as ever. Not to forget Bill's serious and thoughtful self, sometimes hidden in his geniality. We will miss you Bill, a bright light has gone out!! Our fondest love to Carrie and Kay .......

  • I have many memories of Bill and Marge as my father (Kerr Campbell) was “Uncle Mac”s “ best man and we spent Saturdays watching Queens Park in the fifties! I was at the 21st in the photo! Deepest sympathy to the family. Gay Braid.

My dear Kay and Carrie. We are so sorry to hear the very sad news of Uncle Billy's passing. I will always remember when he used to take me to school as a wee boy and also the downstairs bar/party place/fun times we had beneath the house in Newlands with the whole family and anyone else who just happened to pass by. Uncle Bill was always the life and soul of the party and we will all miss him deeply. Thinking of you at this sad time. All our love. Graham, Soula and Sophie.

We always had a great time with Vi, Bill and the three girls sharing family celebrations all the way back to 1966. Bill always was a fun and generous host, witty and charming. His kind heart was shown to Eithne at a difficult time when her Mother was so ill. She will never forget it and will always be grateful.
To his loving family I will quote a Spanish proverb "Only remember the happy times".
RIP Bill. Much love Stuart and Eithne xx

Kay & Carrie, so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I have so many fond memories of your mum & dad. I remember our visits to Glasgow as children with Kay & Eve to your beautiful home and the amazing basement. They made us feel so welcome and we were truly spoilt.
My fondest memories will always be when we were all together on holidays in Marbella. Bill the only man with his sister-in-laws and all the children. They had a ball, he loved them all and he was always so stylish, witty, kind, generous and extremely patient. Mr candy’s favourite customers. Bill was an absolute Gentleman, and I hope your lovely memories will help you through this difficult time. May you RIP uncle Bill, love, Vi, Tom, Ellen, Charlie & Mary, your Irish ☘️ family xx

Sending you all so much love. Such a great loss. The world is a much poorer place without the warmth and smiles that your Dad always brought into any room. One of life's true gentlemen.
