An upstanding brother-in-law and friend whose only fault was he would rarely let me win on the golf course!

Alan was the "Ultimate Professional Detective", held in the highest esteem by Junior and Senior officers alike. I admired him tremendously and was able to enjoy the occasional golf day with him after retirement,but never won! Rest in Peace Alan

I was very sad at the loss of Alan who was a very good detective, always a gentleman and a very good boss. He was also always very good company.
He will be sadly missed.

My late wife and I have known Alan and his wife since 1957 and spent many times together. I will miss him although he will never be forgotten.

Alan was a wonderful friend to me and my late husband Brian who he worked with. Brian admired him so much.
