In loving memory of Diana Bowen who sadly passed away on 29th May 2021

Tribute to Diane Bowen Dunleigh Bowen (Husband) 16 May 2021

I find words, both verbal and written, totally inadequate to describe and capture the essence, the nature, the character, the spirit of my Diane. She was and will always be my Queen.
I shall always remember DI as my adventuresome, mischievous, caring, fun loving & helpful wife.
While on honeymoon we visited Oribi Gorge in Natal, South Africa. The gorge is 400m deep, 5km wide & 30km long, it is a spectacular subtropical area and home to numerous species of wild life. At the deepest point Di calmly stood on the edge of an overhanging rock looking down into the depths of the gorge. She thought it absolutely hilarious when I was in an advanced state of panic for her safety, then promptly sat down on the edge of the rock with her feet overhanging the rock and continued to laugh at me as I continued to panic.
When asked for her opinion on any subject, event or individual, one had to be prepared to hear the whole truth and nothing but the truth. One thing Di did lack was diplomacy, she stated it as she saw it, no frills or fancies. You were left without any doubt about her opinion on the subject matter which often offended the individual but by the same token also often enlightened.
She thoroughly enjoyed practical jokes, made no difference if she was on the receiving end or not. She could laugh at herself as well as others.
Di was always ready and willing to encourage, support, nurture and comfort anybody in need.
Di was a very good cook and loved entertaining.
Di was an absolute wizard with needle work. Knitting, crochet and sewing were her favourite. She made her own wedding dress plus the bridesmaid’s and flower girl’s dresses. She produced numerous dresses for fashion shows & ball room dancing competitions.
If any task she was working on did not progress smoothly or anybody interrupted her, she would calmly turn away from her task with an expression of absolute thunder, deal with the interruption, try to calm down, then abruptly return to her task leaving everybody in her company without any doubt as to how she felt.
In summary, what you saw is what you got with Diane; she was totally transparent, open & honest. You knew exactly where you stood with my beloved wife.
In closing, Di was my friend, my councillor, my guide in every way, my nurse, my encourager, my lover, my wife and above all she was my everything, my life.
Rest in peace my beloved baby girl.

Tribute to Diane Bowen Avril Peddie (Daughter)

"My mother, Diane Bowen, was loved by many, and today we come together to say a final farewell to a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend. Words seem to fail me when I reflect on my mother’s life but everyone has their own experiences to remember her by. Finally after many ups and downs my mother is now at peace. My hope is that each of us leaves here today remembering the good times you've spent with her and celebrate her long lived life."

My dearest mum
Words can and never will be enough to say how much I love you, you were a kind, caring, loving person, a beautiful lady with a soul to match, I remember you were immaculately presented before leaving the house, to me you looked so glamorous, that you could have been a movie star.

You were so talented in everything you did, your knitting, crocheting, sewing, dress making, the list goes on. I wish you could have believed in yourself more.

Thank you for instilling the meaning of family and the importance of the support that you get when you need it most, I feel honoured and privileged to have been able to support you when you needed it most, your tenacity shone through to the end and you kept your wicked sense of humour.

You have gone too soon but I know you're at peace now. You will always be in my heart.

Tribute to Diane Bowen Nicolene Thomson (Step Daughter)

We all have our special memories of Di of which, for me, there are many. She was not one to praise herself, but I feel her talent at sewing and knitting should most definitely be mentioned. Di made many beautiful garments; her trademark unique knitted tops, the garments for my wedding, including my most beautiful dress which I loved and fitted like a glove. Dugald wants it known that the dress lasted longer than our marriage did!
My last memory of Di, and one that will linger, is our last video chat where, despite not being at all well, she still managed to find humour and laughter, and made me laugh with her well-intended cheeky quips at Dad. Stoic as always. Di, you are loved, you will be missed. Rest in peace.

Tribute to Diane Bowen Gregory Bowen (Step Son

I remember her naughty smile and that sharp sense of humour.
A Tribute to my Step Mother
Death can over power us at any time.
Anywhere we can slip under the black curtain.
So short of life to live.
So little time to be with us.
I never cared the way I should have.
Now that you are gone,
I don't know what to feel.
Nothing seems real,
nothing that I can see.
We are blinded by everything around us.
At any time we can be taken away,
forever sleeping in a bed.
Lying there for eternity.
Friends and family will weep,
but my pride I will keep.
No fear.
No tears.
Life can be made so easily,
and taken away from us so quickly.
Rest in peace my dear.
Back on earth where mortals fear.
When will their time be?
When will it end?
Only time can tell.
I am sorry to say,
but I shall stay the same.
It was a pleasure knowing you.
One day we will meet again.

Tribute to Diane Bowen Darren Masters (Future Son-in-Law)

Mum

Although I have only known you a few months, you took me into your heart as if I was your own son.

You had a fantastic sense of humour, a really cheeky laugh and a heart of gold.

I will always remember the first weekend I met you, when we were saying our goodbyes, you came to the door, put your hand under your chin and said to Jos "See, I'm still taller than you” and you soon classed me as "your other man" much to Jos's amazement and delight.

I will always love and miss you

Your future son in law
Daz
