Thinking of Doreen’s family and friends and sending prayers and strength.
Doreen was such a kind lady when I met her. She was married to Jack. My grandad Jim was Jacks brother.
She will be greatly missed.
Love Holly, Jamie and Poppy xxx

I didn’t know Doreen well but I truly thought the world of her. I enjoyed our conversations about England during the war and post war years. She was a kind and special woman, so patient putting up with all those Pennifold boys! I will always remember her beautiful smile. Rest In Peace Doreen.

  • Have some lovely pictures of Doreen and Jack from when they came here on holiday but am hopeless at manipulating the web these days - so sorry - and as I told Gail I am sending a cheque to Enfants Espoire in memory of Dear Doreen. Always sad and lots of love to her children who must be feeling greatly the loss.

Doreen was always so kind and generous to me and I have lots of fond memories of her. She had a great sense of humour, always laughing and joking and always had a beautiful smile on her face. I remember the wonderful lunch buffet's in Brentwood and she always making me feel so welcome in her home. We will miss you Doreen! Love Julie, Ian and Sam

Most sincere condolences to Barry, Gail, Shaun and to all Aunt Doreen's loved ones. Doreen, who was married to my mum Sheila's late brother Jack, was a lovely person who was always kind to me. Our family emigrated to Canada in 1958, and when we went back to England for a holiday in 1962, I was out shopping with Doreen and as we passed a fishmonger's I mentioned that I loved cockles, but couldn't get them in Canada. She took me into the shop and bought pints of fresh cockles, then invited me to tea at her house where I sat down to an enormous delicious platefull of them. One of the best, most memorable meals of my life. Dear Aunt Doreen - a long life, well lived.
