In loving memory of John Harold Russell who sadly passed away on 26th April 2021.
Dad was an amazing person who had a heart of gold but was also a miserable old goat - which I told him frequently. He would do anything for anyone. In our younger days myself and my brother Rob heard all about the stories of him growing up and being a pain in school. Hearing stories of our Sooty Nan and Poorly Grandad, as we affectionately knew them, spending time with our family of Auntie Judy, Uncle Arthur, Mandy and Leanne, Uncle Lewis and Auntie Rhonda and Uncle Rick and Auntie Jo. We all miss him already but at least he is back with his Mum and Dad and Uncle Phil - I dread to think what Dad and Uncle Phil will be getting up to.
Dad was also an amazing ‘Pappy’ to his grandkids and I know he was super proud of them all. Emily, Cameron, Sophia, and his step grandkids Corey and Megan. I have lovely memories of us spending Christmases together, playing silly games or cards. I’m glad he knew his youngest granddaughter Sophia and he will now take on the new mantle of ‘poorly grandad’ for her like his dad, did for us, before him.
I will never forget the fact he had to buy everything in 2’s or 3’s if he liked something and that he would repeat the same stories over and over to us all whilst Me and my husband Lee would roll our eyes at him and laugh.
The worst part of Dad’s death is that he has left the love of his life, Pat, my Mum. They would argue and bicker but I could see the love in their eyes for each other through thick and thin. They worked as a team and drove each other mad but it didn’t matter. They were in it together.
Dad died too soon and even though he was battling cancer it still didn’t get him in the end. He fought for his life and was still insisting he would ‘paint the shed’ the next day it was just his heart of gold needed to rest which sent him to be with the family and friends he had lost already.
I miss and love you Dad just like all the people you have left here on earth and I know you knew how much you meant to us all.
Love Becky xxxxx
