In loving memory of Bridget Mary Smith who sadly passed away on 23rd January 2021.

She was a mother to two Children, Guy and Alastair and a Grandmother to Hannah. She was a kind and caring person and yet fiercely independent. She lived life how she wanted to and was very happy in her own company, as long as she had her beloved miniature Dachshund, Daisy, with her.

Born in Cornwall and raised in Kent, she lived in many places in the Middle East and Far East with her family before settling in Kent once again where she lived for nearly 30 years before moving to Calne about 15 years ago.

No matter where she has lived two things were important to Mum, friendship and feeling a part of the community. Wherever she has lived she has always found true friendship, some of these have lasted nearly 50 years. Through attending WI, joining a choir to being a playgroup assistant or even working behind a bar when she was younger she made herself belong to the community where she was living.

Mum faced a number of challenges and adversities in her life but due to her determined character she always got through them with the minimum of fuss.

She loved music (singing especially), gardening & walking with Daisy.

Loved by many, she will be sorely missed.

Lovely Bridget was our next door neighbour at Boughton - she was an instantly likeable and fun loving lady. We admired Bridget’s quiet, but strong character; she had both a mixture of determined independence and a love of being with people. We often exchanged jolly chatter on the driveway and shared a love of walking and dogs. We kept in touch with Bridget when she moved to Calne and are so pleased she had found such a friendly community in beautiful Wiltshire. Very fond memories of a special, lovely and gentle lady.

With very fond memories of my dear friend. We spent happy times together chatting and walking little Daisy and my dog Rosie and I always visited her when I came back to Calne.
I have just watched her funeral service whilst sitting in a bedroom chair which she gave me a few years ago when I moved to Dorset. It was a very nice service and I was so pleased to be able to be part of it on Webcast. God bless you my friend.

Dearest Bridget, a totally understated lady, who undersold herself. She was my mother's right hand for a number of years. And for that I am eternally grateful. She WILL be sorely missed, I loved our téléphone conversations. Bless you Bridget
