I didn’t know you very well Carol, or for very long, however what memories I hold of you are worth mentioning, as not everyone was as unique as you…..
Your obvious love for fashion & unique style, but were always bare legged. Your love for sharing food and your funny emails. You always appeared to be on a mission, walking very fast in whatever direction you were going, you always seemed focused and had a sense of determination on whatever task, however little, or big you were committed to. This was very evident after your tragic accident, I admired your resilience and ability to overcome all barriers, I am not sure I could have had such courage.
Thank you for inviting “us” admin girls into your home and sharing stories of your life and what an interesting life you had. You were an inspiration to many of us and the world will be a duller place without you. Sleep tight Carol.

Dear Carol,
You were a force of nature, always zooming up and down the corridors of Hetherington at breakneck speed. I'm grateful that you slowed down for us when you got your wheels. Your love of fashion and food was wonderful but not as wonderful as your obvious desire to help people and to even the stakes for those less fortunate. It was a privilege to be part of the refugee project and to witness your passion for this cause. I promise to do everything I can to develop it further.
You will be so greatly missed but I'll think of you often, particularly when I see cakes in the kitchen or find treasure in a charity shop, and especially when I see those final reports for students who never would have joined us if it wasn't for you.

Carol. Spirits as strong as yours must make it pretty speedily up to the big guy (or indeed wherever you wish to fly). If mine proved half as strong I’d be happy.

You were and will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Your life and work has reached so many people and you will be missed by all of us who had the privilege to know you. I have an especially fond memory of watching From Scotland with Love together in our house, with afternoon tea and obligatory cake, with one of the cats on your lap. The film brought back memories of your dad, working on the trains and recollections of happy times holidaying on the Scottish islands. RIP Carole.

Carol, I shall miss you very much.
You were a great colleague who became a friend. Sharing an office with you was a real privilege, even though we disagreed on how hot the room should be! I'll remember your love of cheesecake and other sweet treats. Our room was always the place the others came to when they were in need of a biscuit.
Working together on the ESC course was very rewarding and now, whenever I run the 'Glaswegian English' session with the international students I'll think of you putting on your strongest 'Weegie' accent to introduce them to the dialect.

Dear Carol,
We were only 18 months apart in age. Spent so much time together growing up, school holidays etc. Happy days. I wish I could have visited last year but of course Covid put a stop to that.
I can't even attend your funeral .
Covid may have changed out lives but it can't change my memories of those carefree days, growing up in Glasgow .
You will be sadly missed.

Our deepest condolences to all the friends saddened by Carol Ann Irvine’s passing. She was a wonderful teacher who became a good friend. We met her in 1976 and kept in contact ever since.

Dearest Carol,
Your presence, love and Carolness will be missed by Us on every level that there is, but fond, fun and forever are and shall be Our memories. You take it easy now and rest in the tranquil peace that You deserve. Eternal wishes and love from the Doonan team who are so honoured to have known You and to have been able to share so many rich and cherished memories with You.
