Roger was a gentler kinder guy we have had the privilege to have known. With lots of happy memories, always a warm welcome whenever we visited.
He will be much missed and always in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with Pat and Craig.

Roger........I don't know where to start. You've known me all my life. You love your family with all your heart but even on the darkest days if you saw your grandchildren your eyes would light up and you are so proud of Craig. You were such a lovely man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. You adored Pat anyone could see that. You're leaving a big hole in mirfield now. Good night and God bless xx

I have known Roger since 1966 when I collected the family insurance premiums and can honestly confirm most of the comments already made are spot on. To me he will be remembered as ' Jolly Roger'. RIP Sir.

You were our eldest Uncle but the youngest at heart who filled our hearts with so much joy and laughter. Laugh; god you made me laugh, your tales, your dry humour and your ability to pretend you were a grump- I will miss forever. I, Dave and Maggie will never forget you, love you always x

Dear Roger it just shows what a special person you were when all the tributes are saying the same thing loving, kind, caring and funny. No one has ever made me laugh as much as you. You were the life and soul of the many bbqs and meals out. We will miss you so much things will never be quite the same again. Rest in peace xxx

You can tell from all these lovely messages how Roger loved to have a laugh. I see there is a photo of him on his bike. He was embarrassed when he rode his bike into the canal but he took all the jokes about it in good part.
He once insisted on giving me £30 for an old car that had failed its MOT. Your wasting your money Roger I told him. Five years later it was still on the road. Roger used to drive past me slowly and smile.
The fun we had helping out at scouts and the memories of dads and lads weekends are priceless.
There is saying about people who bring joy.
When they die and go to heaven it’s just a day like any other day.
I am sure it’s like that for you Roger.

We can’t believe that Roger won’t be around, when we next visit Yorkshire. He made us feel so welcome and we laughed our time through the visits, with Roger’s quips and tales.
We remember the times you visited the Isle of Wight, when we would go fishing off the Yarmouth pier and share the trips to Alum Bay and BlackGang Chine, where we hold such good memories.
Roger thought our southern beer was awful and so do we!
So we will raise a pint of Yorkshire beer to a loving, kind and funny man who we love and will never forget.
With love to Pat and Craig, from Russell, Belinda, Charlotte & Jon xxx

Roger, I couldnt of asked for a better brother in law and uncle to Lauren and Lewis. We have so many treasured memories of the times we have all shared. You and Pat have always been there for us, you used to take us all over, Isle of Wight, Sundowners, Gullivers World(sorry I used to make you go on the roller coasters with them) Great Yorkshire Show to name a few, and I can never thank you enough for giving Lauren and Lewis the chance to do these things. You have left a massive hole in all our hearts Roger. Dont worry about Pat we will all look after her. LOVE YOU ALWAYS XXXXXX
