So many precious memories. I can hardly believe he is gone.

He taught me so much about God. He taught me electronics, and at an early age, taught me how to wire a plug, trusting me then to repeat the task safely on my own. He knew how to fix things, and passed that knowledge on to me too.

Through many late nights, we learned together to program the Acorn Electron, and would take turns at typing long programs from printed magazines.

He and I loved watching Tomorrow's World together; a real highlight of the week for me. Dad would say "Good night!" in amazement whenever they showed us something particularly impressive.

For a while, he drove the church minibus, transporting elderly folks to and from church, and he would make them laugh and smile with his warm and fun personality.

He took a LOT of photos; countless sunsets, lots of flowers, and also some lightning from time to time.

When there had been a disagreement, he would go and stand alone in a quiet room, gazing out of the window. He was a sensitive and deep thinker.

He said sosspan instead of saucepan. He would hum along enthusiastically to music, and sometimes made us laugh by turning his humming into a loud trumpet/trombone sound.

He loved taking measurements of various kinds. His differentiation of 'accurate' and 'precise' has been passed-down to two generations... along with the story of the Bunsen burner prank that one of his classmates performed at school.

He loved his children. He loved his wife. He also loved picking up the cats and talking to them with fun affection. He played a big part in teaching me the deep value of people, and the importance of caring - especially for those who have had a rough time in life.

I'm not going to see him now for quite a long time. But the precious memories and everything he taught me - they remain here and will continue down the years.

I am so, so grateful to have had this man as my dad.
