A great neighbour who became a lovely friend. We could, and did, chat for hours. Always a story to be told usually with a glass of something chilled. I will miss you Denis and as I look over the fence I will remember you fondly. Love to Liz and family, always here if you need us. X

  • We had some fun times along with Mick Ryan through our school years. Destroying the schools grand piano. Being chased by lads from Players school after our school disco, Denis never ran that fast on sports day! He hid behind a hedge whilst I got battered. But the story that makes ne laugh the most is not long after we had left school being caught by security at the nurses quarters in Town and climbing over the huge gates to get away. These gates are where Harts Hotel is now. I got over but Denis tried to ease himself down and got stuck and hung there as if he'd been crucified and had to be rescued by security, and like the loyal friend that I was I was long gone laughing uncontrollably at the look on his face. The three of us laughed a lot and spent time at each others houses and although its a while since we've seen each other as Mike says when we would meet up we would be laughing as we reminisced. He will be missed. Aidan

Having attended Primary and Secondary School with Denis I was so sad to hear of his death.

During our school years Denis, together with myself and Aiden Trimble were very good friends.

Denis had a great sense of humour and lovely personality. To me back then he always seemed calm and mature, without an ounce of malice and a dry but witty personality. He shared the mischievous (non harmful) tenancies all three of us had. Our friendship and misbehaving often meant the three of us got into all kinds of legendary school boy trouble at Trinity School. Above all, I will remember him as a genuinely nice school friend to have had.

I would occasionally bump into Denis at the hairdressers or in the Rodney / Hemlockstone pub.
On every occasion he'd find time to reminisce and catch up. His school boy charm and character to me had stayed with him in adult life. Always had an holiday or life experience to share, but was equally willing to listen and engage with anyone and everyone.

Of true character and personality he will be missed.

Mike Ryan.
