In loving memory of Frank Telling who sadly passed away on 3rd November 2020.

Please note that Frank had requested donations to the two charities mentioned on the right rather than flowers, or if you wish to remember him in a tangible way. Please click on the relevant button and you will be guided on how to make your donation. Please also note that because of the current restrictions, it will be a private family funeral, with no other guests. Thank you.

I would love to hear your memories of Frank in the messages section below, and maybe you have a photo to share as well? Feel free to light a candle for Frank as we remember the happy times, and a life well lived.

Frank was born in Leatherhead in 1937 at the farm his parents were tenants of. They moved to Slough Farm in 1945 . Frank was already a proficient tractor driver helping with field work and harvest. Slough Farm was at that time under a plough order, which obliged the growing of food crops no matter the suitability of the land.

He worked on the farm, marrying Mary Wolters of Hare Lane who was the dairy maid.

Franks love of machinery took him away the farm but not Telegraph Lane as he and Mary had purchased no 86 in 1961 for £2,300.

In the following years they had two daughters Janie and Vicki. He continued working in mechanics until eventually returning to run Slough Farm A man of many enthusiasms and talents, his interests included farming, cars, home maintenance, designing light aircraft, tropical fish, canals and narrowboats, bees and honey harvesting and engineering of all kinds.

He leaves Mary after 59 years of happy marriage, two daughters and four grandchildren. He also leaves many tall tale of friendship and adventure in Claygate and the surrounding area.

It was down to Frank's patience and determination that he won prizes for his honey and the Kingston apiary. We have lovely memories of Frank,

Such treasured memories of my childhood calling down to the farm from Telegraph Hill. Watching Frank riding his tractor on the farm. All my first memories. Sending so much love to my second family. Thinking of you all as always 💞💞

Frank was such a lovely man. I knew him as a neighbour and a friend. He had such good stories to tell and I always learned something new about bees whenever he spoke about them. I remember too, a story he told me about some tunnelling machinery that got lost inside Telegraph Hill during the war. It’s probably still in there somewhere. I love the idea of that. I will miss Frank, he was a happy part of my time here in Claygate. Much love to you Mary, and your family xx

We have lovely memories of our trips with F rank & Mary on on our narrowboats up and down the country. We would not have got where we did but for Captain Bligh urging us on. He was a joy to be with.

Dear Mary, so sad to be writing this, we are both thinking of you. Next to the Robersons you and Frank were my longest standing friends, and have always been there for me. at any time I have needed to have a kind ear in which to unload my concerns. Frank was such a very clever engineer, he installed the central heating in my house in Hampton, and the odd bits of welding he did for me really did stay stuck together, unlike my own puny efforts. To me, Frank’s voice was always a calm one of “We can do that”, and it was done. Look forward to seeing you sometime Mary, hope we can be here for you if we can help.
