In loving memory of Peter Edward Pickard who sadly passed away on 24th September 2020.

Following the government announcement on Saturday 31st October, it appears that we can continue with our arrangement of the 30 invited mourners to the funeral, providing we observe social distancing and wear masks. Disappointingly, the wake will not be able to go ahead due to the hospitality industry being impacted by the lockdown. We will update further if there are any changes to any of this.

Peter was a true gentleman who always treated others with respect and never forgot to say thank you. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will live on through his children, grandchildren, and friends who all love and miss him dearly.

Survived by his loving sister Sue; sons James & Alex; and grandchildren Amelie & Harrison.

If you wish, please write a message on the Funeral Guide page, to be compiled into a special memorial book for Peter.

What can I say, Peter a real genuine, thoughtful and caring person who would always have time for anyone.
I will miss our chats together, most weekends on my Mothers driveway .
Pete would be either fixing one of the boys cars our doing general DIY jobs while I was popping into to visit Mum .

A wonderful fellow !

My mother and all the family will miss Peter dearly . Rest in peace

Our condolences go to both James and Alex x

I remember meeting Peter a few times over the years living with Alex. He was softly spoken, polite and (relatively) quiet, but always seemed chirpy and happy when he was with his son every time he came over. I never knew him, but he left a lasting impression of a true gent and a great devoted father. May he rest in peace and may he live fondly in the memory of those lives whom he touched.

Peter, I still can’t believe you’ve gone, I’ll always expect you round the table at James and Jades or at one of their family parties or just us slobbing out on a Sunday afternoon, you covered in oil from another day with your head under the bonnet of the Lincoln. Such a lovely man, such a lovely grandad. Who am I going to embarrass with my in-depth conversations about men’s bits and bobs now? You will be truly missed Peter, it’s warming to know that a part of you lives on in James and Alex and also in Amelie and Harrison. Rest in Peace.
Trisha x

I met peter about 17 years ago as a next door neighbour. It didn't take too long to be good friend with him . Peter was one of the most genuine people that I have ever met. Me and my family highly appreciated the endless support that he gave to us. He was loyal, kind-hearted and very helpful to not only myself but all the other neighbours as well. We all miss him and will always remember Peter. Our condolences are to the family.

May he attain Nibbana (end of suffering).

During my high school days I spent a lot of time at Peter's with James. I remember him as a kind, caring and genuine man, he always welcomed me in and I never felt like I was in the way. During a tough period in my life when my parents separated, Peter took me under his wing and invited me on days out with James and Alex and never once asked for anything in return. It meant a lot to me at that time and I never forgot his kindness. He was a gifted engineer and I remember some occasions where he was working on a car (normally James's!) and he would need a part or a tool that he didn't have and he'd disappear off and come back with something that he'd just perfectly made in his garage! God bless and know he is in a better place x

Your sudden departure has shaken our hearts to the core, but I guess this feeling is testament to the wonderful person you were. We will continue to keep your memory alive, telling Amelie and Harrison all about you as they grow up. And I promise I'll look after your biggest boy (and your littlest too). Sleep well; we miss you so much x x x x

Been a college and friend for over 40 years, will miss the few times a year we got together for a breakfast and a chat, although we could only meet a few times a year we were in regular contact by phone and will miss our chats.
