In loving memory of Kenneth James Whelan who sadly passed away on 11th October 2020

Iain McGrath donated £150 in memory of Kenneth

Dear Ken

thank you so much for the wonderful memories you gave me. You welcomed me into your family with such kindness and humour from day 1, and helped me pass that Viennese Whirl test! I will always be grateful for your kindness, sense of fun and friendship. Rest in peace.

So many memories of Uncle Ken come to mind. I think more will arise tomorrow, on November 3rd. I know that Lesley & I will not be there with you in body - but in spirit I hope you feel the love and respect we have for him, your father, grandfather, uncle and friend. When I remember Uncle Ken, I see the face in the photos you all have shared. I recall the way he led his life and the love he had for family. I know we didn’t get the chance to spend much time with Uncle Ken in the later years and most of my memories come from childhood. In fact, it is the large Whelan family gatherings of the 1970’s that forge my thoughts when I close my eyes; the smile, the voice...which I remember as being rather posh at the time. Then there was the moment when he revealed our Engagement ring, in the bedroom of Auntie Patsy’s flat in Twickenham. It is these memories that bring forward a fond and happy mood.
Be strong on Tuesday. Remember the best moments and say farewell to Uncle Ken, for us.

Keith & Lesley
