It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Eileen Richards announces her passing on September 27th 2020 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Lindford, Hampshire, she was 67.

Eileen was born December 11th, 1952 in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland to her parents, James & Mary O’Sullivan and grew up in Lixnaw, with her siblings Maire, Patricia and James.

A keen student, she studied at Presentation Convent in Lixnaw and FCJ Bruff Co.Limerick. Despite wanting to become a nurse, with the encouragement of her mother, she continued her education at Sion Hill College, Dublin and graduated with a diploma in Teaching, going on to teach Home Economics at Caherciveen Vocational School. Her natural inclination for caring and mentoring continued throughout her life, touching the lives of so many people in different places and time.

Eileen met her husband Clive on Valentia Island in Co. Kerry and later married in Windsor, England in October 1977. Thus started a 45 year journey, sharing their love of family, travel, golf, fishing and socialising, with friends far and wide. Together they were members of several golf clubs and fished many a famous river and sea. Fulfilling her lifelong desire to experience the world, she travelled to thirty-eight countries spanning six continents and spent many happy months of the year in their second home in the Algarve, Portugal.

Content alone but truly alive in company, Eileen is remembered most for her infectious laugh and a smile that lit up a room. Always first to start to dance, she loved nothing more than putting on her favourite music and singing along loudly.

Eileen was Mother to five children, her pre-deceased son Micheal (Matthew) and surviving daughters with Clive; Alison & Ann-Marie and step-children Louise and Stephen; she was Grandmother to their children Nicole, Callum, Katka and Jessica.

Eileen and her family are incredibly grateful to the palliative care team at The Rosemary Foundation, Petersfield for their help and support in Eileen's final days. Following Eileen's wishes we ask that there are no flowers but that donations are made to the Rosemary Trust instead please.

Funeral Service to take place on 16th October 2020 at GreenAcres Heatherley Wood, Grayshott followed by cremation at The Oaks Crematorium, Havant. Unfortunately due to current Covid restrictions we can only accommodate a small number of friends and family so the funeral will be invite only, we will however have a video link during the service should you wish to join, please contact Clive or family for the link. We are also hoping to have a memorial service in the Spring which will be open to all. Eileen will be laid out in the Chapel of Rest in Rowland's Funeral Service, Petersfield from Wednesday 7th October until Thursday 15th October, all are welcome to visit, please contact Rowland's Funeral Service to arrange a time.

My dearest friend Eileen, our time together was fleeting but I vividly remember our day of meeting, and as you soar high above the clouds, we were meant to meet, I have no doubts. I treasure every moment we spent laughing together and in my heart you will remain forever.

My mother was the boldest and most fearless person I knew. The Rosemary Foundation were empathic and caring beyond words and gave Mom the confidence to do things her way, as she always intended. They gave me the power and energy to be there whenever Mom needed me and carried the burden of responsibility and care in a way that I didn't think possible. I thank-you from the bottom of my heart for all your support. You truly are angels and I feel blessed to have met you all.
