In loving memory of Natalie Joy Goodland, a much-loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunty, niece, cousin and good friend, who sadly passed away in August 2020, aged 40.

Every one of us has had our life touched - perhaps in the tiniest way, or perhaps totally transformed - by Natalie’s existence. We would not be reading this otherwise. Her life mattered, and this is her story.

Born here in Taunton to proud parents Dai and Sue Jones, Natalie grew up alongside her older sister Sam. She was a tiny blonde girl, who could be best described as a bit of a cheeky monkey. She could be strong willed, but always got away with it by being loving and mischievous. She had a happy childhood, filled with activities, including many sports, majorettes, trampolining and lots of family time. Later, she was an enthusiastic member of several carnival clubs, helping with the cart painting and the choreography. After college, Natalie worked in the Civil Service for 20 years.

She had a few years as a single young lady, never short of admirers, but picky about her choices. She was crazy about Ronan Keating, bought all his records and was lucky enough to actually meet him in person last year.

In 2001 her life changed forever. Whilst mentoring for the Princes Trust, she met her ‘toyboy’ Dave (who, at the time, had quite a resemblance to the aforementioned Ronan). They held hands whilst gazing at the stars on a clear night on Dartmoor, and were together from that moment on. However, Dave didn’t expect that he would have to meet the whole family just a week later at Sam’s wedding to Craig and be introduced to, and get the blessing of, Natalie’s dad, Dai. But all went well and Dave was accepted into the Jones family and all the love, fun and laughter that was on offer.

The young couple got married in 2005 and enjoyed 5 years of wedded bliss, just as a couple. Close family were nearby though, and there was always some shared activity going on, mostly organised by Natalie. Later, they were blessed with 2 beautiful children of their own, a daughter and a son, and enjoyed family life here in Taunton.

Natalie’s earlier experiences stood her in good stead for motherhood, she fully supported her daughter with her own majorettes, making her costumes and helping with the choreography. Doing crafting with both the children, face-painting at fetes. She was the chief organiser for the whole family, with Mummy and Sam as her seconds in command, and boy did she love a bargain – securing the best deals for lots of family breaks and activities.

Natalie also raised money for charity, taking part in several Races for Life & two 26-mile Moonwalks in London, with her sister Sam. although at the end of the last one, they were heard to say "never again!"

Natalie was caring & generous with her time & efforts & very loyal to the chosen people who she allowed to share her life. Natalie was a beautiful person inside and out, who will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

The family wish to thank everyone who attended Natalie's service - in the chapel, in the garden and online.
Also, thank you for all the cards, flowers and kind messages of love and support from family and friends.
It does help to know that Natalie was so loved by others too.
And finally, thank you to everyone that has contributed so generously to Natalie's chosen charity.

My beautiful daughter, our love for each other will never fade.

Having you in my life for 40 years was not long enough, but it was always a joy and I will never be sad about that.
